Exhibition Business perspectives were discussed at the conference in Milan

The annual conference “Trade System - New business models to share after the crisis and deal with international challenges” took place in Milan on September 14, 2011.

As current economic situation confirms that industry is able to overcome crises, it is essential to draw attention to the perspectives of trade fair business. New business solutions and models, innovative ideas services for exponents and visitors, international relations and export stimulation – all these issues were discussed at the conference.

The Director General of JSC “LENEXPO” and Chairman of UFI European Department Mr. Sergey Alexeev.

At the conference Mr. Alexeev was talking about the pre-crises situation in the exhibition business and its further development perspectives. He emphasized that some events managed to remain popular with exponents due to its field importance. Anyways, the crisis makes trade fair organizers think of new services and more convenient conditions for visitors and exponents. Thus, there come out new opportunities and development perspectives.

At the end, Sergey Alexeevpointed out that exhibition industry would develop and flourish if it could followthe latest market tendencies, apply creative approaches and take into consideration consumers’ needs. Therefore, he believes that successful result will be impossible without new ideas and productive contacts.

The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) gathers 560 members. The association is represented in 210 cities and 83 countries worldwide. At present UFI members are the leading international exhibition centers; they organize 4 500 trade fairs and exhibition events.

From Frankfurt to St. Petersburg. The New E-Mobile will be demonstrated in “LENEXPO” Complex

On September 30 – October 1, 2011 all visitors of St. Petersburg Annual Industrial Forum “Russian Industrialist” and St. Petersburg Innovative Forum will be able to observe the new E-mobile.

“E-concept” was first demonstrated on September 13, 2011 at the International Auto Show in Frankfurt. The new car introduces personal “E” brand, designed by the Russian engineers. The car has uncommon design and 4 seats. The most unique feature of this “E- concept” is its unusual door-system. The doors are moved aside as bird’s wings. The concept car will not be put into mass production. But its’ technological solutions and principles can be successfully applied in the future e-models.

Three models of Russian “E-cars”: mini-van, cross-coupe and city-van, were already demonstrated at the end of 2010. This year the designers have upgraded E-crossover, which will head their models’ list. The release of new e-models is scheduled for 2012.

The 5th International Estate Investment Forum opens in St. Petersburg

ST.PETERSBUGR, September 7 /SPB-TASS/. 5th International Estate Investment Forum “PROEstate” / will open today in St. Petersburg. The discussions will be focused on the global estate investment market and Russian estate market, the role of State in the development of regional investment attractiveness.

The list of Forum participants includes around 3 000 people – representatives of Federal and regional authorities, estate owners, investment, construction, development and consulting companies, architects, designers and estate tenants. The opening ceremony will be attended by the director of the Department of Industry and Infrastructure of the Russian Government Mr. Maxim Sokolov, and Deputy Minister of Regional Development Mr. Ilya Ponomarev.

The main event of the first day will be the plenary session, devoted to the development mechanisms at the Russian estate market and worldwide. The priority questions, selected for discussion, are focused on State Estate strategy integrated into the world estate trends, business struggle for foreign developer’s projects, measures of administrative and financial support for potential investors, foreign experience and Russian estate market situation.

A three-day program includes over 30 discussions, devoted to the most topical issues, including “green construction, State- business partnership, and development of rent market and provision of field specialists.

Forum’s exposition will demonstrate estate investment projects from 40 Russian regions and 30 foreign countries. There will be introduced over 160 developers projects from Russia, Ukraine, East and West Europe – city construction plans, architectural projects, territorial development, various estate objects.
The winners of All-Russian Ecological Development and Power Efficiency Contest “Green Awards 2011” will be announced on September 8, 2011.

ХХ Jubilee Agricultural Trade Fair has finished at “LENEXPO” complex

XX Jubilee Agricultural Trade Fair “Agrorus 2011” took place in “LENEXPO” Exhibition and Congress Center on August 22-28, 2011. Within 20 years it has become a convenient meeting place for all Russian Farmers, where there they demonstrate agricultural achievements and discuss professional problems.

This year the Event has been visited by over than 149 thousand people – citizens of St. Petersburg and guests. 45 Russian regions and foreign participants (CIS countries, Germany, India, Latvia, Ukraine and Finland) took part in the Trade Fair.

1500 companies demonstrated their production. Outside exposition occupied all “Lenexpo” premises. Within 7 exhibition days the Fair Market sold 277 tons of vegetables, 28 tons of blueberry and cowberry, 235 tons of sausages and meat, 65 tons of dairy products and 659 tons of honey. Fish Market sold 35 tons of fish and became very popular with visitors.

Business program, attended by the field specialists, business representatives and State authorities, was devoted to the most topical issues of the Russian agriculture and its development perspectives. Several new expositions such as “agricultural logistics infrastructure” and “Russian Farmer Program” were organized at the Trade Fair for the first time ever.

“Family farms” exposition was organized for the third time. Besides, all farmers were offered insurance consultations from the Russian Agricultural Leasing Company (Rosagroleasing).

Agricultural Job Fair worked for the whole exhibition period. The representatives of the Leningrad Region Labor Committee, St. Petersburg Committee for employment and labor and some agricultural enterprises of the Leningrad Region took part in the job fair. The Bank of vacancies offered over 4000 vacancies at the Regional agricultural enterprises and over 2000 in St. Petersburg. This year job fair’s service has been used by 605 people.

The Program was traditionally divided into thematic days: Farmers’ day, the days of Pskov, Leningrad Region, St. Petersburg, gardeners’ day, the day of folk crafts and the day of honey.

Public honey degustation and contest were organized in the framework of traditional “Honey day”. Over 40 applications were submitted for the contest. Testers could try 114 kinds of honey. The degustation determined 7 best honeys and 9 more received “good quality” sign. The winner of Public Choice contest is Mikhail Zhuchkov from Irkutsk Region (“Baikal Honey” farm).

Field contests “The best Farm”, “The best family livestock farm”, “the best agricultural achievement”, “the best agricultural equipment” and etc… took place in the framework of “Agrorus” Trade Fair.

The spirit of holiday was created by the participants of bright and joyful stage program. Since 2001 the Trade Fair has been known as “Agrorus”. Within years it has become the largest agricultural forum which gathers agricultural manufacturers, consumers, State authorities and field specialists.

“20 years of partnership with Russian agricultural industry” is the motto of “Agrorus” in 2011.

The official opening ceremony took place at noon at the central square of “LENEXPO” complex. The greeting speeches were given by Alexander Petrikov, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Sergey Zimin, the Deputy Plenipotentionary of the President of the Russian Federation in the North-West Federal District, Ludmila Kostkina, the Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg, Sergey Yakhnyuk, the Vice-Governor of the Leningrad Region, and Vasily Zakharyaschev, the Deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma’s Department of public associations and religious organizations. The speakers emphasized that State authorities have recently provided much support to the program of agricultural modernization. “Agrorus” Trade Fair also greatly contributes to the development of Russian agricultural industry.
Alexander Petrikov gave a speech on behalf of the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government, Mr. Viktor Zubkov, and Minister of Agriculture, Mrs. Elena Skrynnik. They both pointed out that “Agrorus” supports social and economic development of Russian farming and agriculture in general.

The new jubilee phrase of this season is “20 years of partnership with Agricultural Industry”.

“Agrorus” Trade Fair is conducted by JSC ‘LENEXPO” jointly with the Government of the Russian Federation, Leningrad Region, Agricultural Committee of the Russian State Duma and various field ministries and departments. The Event was first conducted in 1992 when the association of Russian farmers decided to revive Russia agricultural Trade Fairs. Thus the project “Russian Farmer” appeared and gained popularity. In 2001 it was renamed into “Agrorus”.

Right now “Agrorus 2011” is regarded as one of the largest Federal Agricultural Forums, contributing to the realization of the State Program of agricultural development and agricultural and food market regulation.

This Trade Fair has already become the platform for field specialists where they can demonstrate their achievements, establish essential contacts and share experience.

Sergey Alexeev has been reelected as the Chairman of UFI European Department

The Director General of JSC “LENEXPO” Sergey Alexeev is reelected as the Chairman of UFI European Department for the period of two years. The credentials will enter into force in November 2011, which will be officially announced at UFI Congress in Spain. The elections take place once in two years.

The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) is a field organization which includes international and national exhibition associations and their partners.

UFI gathers 543 companies in 206 cities from 84 countries and 6 continents. “UFI approved” signs has been given to more than 827 trade fairs and expositions. Over 4500 exhibition events with more than 1 000 000 exponents and 150 000 000 visitors are annually organized by UFI members. UFI Headquarters is situated in Paris.

The first meeting, devoted to the forthcoming event, has been already conducted by the administration of St. Petersburg.

"Agrorus 2011” will be traditionally devoted to the Russian farmers. The history of this trade fair dates back to the year 1992, when the Association of Russian Farmers initiated the revival of famous Russian agricultural fairs. So the first exhibition “Russian Farmer” was conducted for the first time, later in 2001 the event was renamed. At present “Agrorus” has turned into the large Federal agricultural and industrial forum, which contributes to the realization of the State agricultural programs and regulation of the country’s agricultural and food market. The event is organized by the Government of the Russian Federation, Governments of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, State Duma, field ministries and departments and JSC “Lenexpo”.

The list of participants for "Agrorus 2011” has not been completely formed yet, but the Project Director Natalya Golubeva claims that there will be some newcomers such as China and Poland. Russian will take part in “BRIDEX-2011” – International Defense Exhibition and Conference for the first time

MOSCOW July 4/ SPB-TASS/ For the first time ever Russia will participate in the International Defense Exhibition and Conference “Bridex 2011” , which will take place on July 6-9 in Brunei.

“Bridex” has been conducted since 2007. The event is organized by the Bruneian Ministry of Defense.
The exhibition is mostly focused on artillery, armored vehicles, Air Defense Systems, engineering and medical equipment, demining equipment and etc. In 2011 the exhibition will host 320 companies from 30 countries. The largest expositions will be introduced by Brunei, Singapore, Turkey, USA and Malaysia.

The Russian exposition is organized by the State Corporation “Rostechnologies”. It will demonstrate infantry fighting vehicle BMP – 3M, armored car GAZ 233036, training plane Yak 130, helicopter Ka 266, anti-aircraft missile system “Top M2E”, besides there will be advertising printing materials about 120 different military objects.

Indian Army demonstrates interest to the Russian mobile complex of stationing warships

ST. PETERSBURG, July 2 /SPB-TASS reporter Ivan Skirtach/ Indian armed forces will probably buy a stationing mobile complex, designed by “Moscow Engineering Bureau “Compass” company, which enables the owner to construct a naval station on the unequipped coast within 10-15 days.

Alexander Gurov, the senior engineer of “Compass” engineering bureau, has confirmed the interest demonstrated by the military representatives of several foreign States, but it is still too early to discuss the agreement details as the negotiations with Rosoboronexport have not finished yet.
The complex was officially patented in 2010. It provides the essential conditions for the naval station, which can be completely constructed within 10-15 days. The station will be able to provide staff lodging, cargo storage and arm loading. Moreover, such complex can be easily removed to a different place when the task is fulfilled. Mr. Gurov considers this construction convenient for different anti-piracy operations, currently conducted in the African waters.

Besides, the complex can successfully serve for civil needs: e. g. humanitarian operations. The last earthquake in Japan destroyed many sea settlements, which possessed developed port and coast infrastructure. This complex can construct a new port with all services, usually working with humanitarian missions.
Moreover, such complexes can be used for the companies which develop hydrocarbons, as they often have to work in the wilderness without any infrastructure.
The complex construction is based on modernized floating pontoons. At present “Compass” has already designed special power-supply pontoons, helicopter pontoon and “physical field” pontoon able to demagnetize hull and conduct essential acoustic measurements.

ST.PETERSBURG June 29 /SPB-TASS reporter Ekaterina Kalinina, Lev Frolov/. The 5^th International Maritime Defense Show (IMDS 2011) has begun in St. Petersburg. It will work at “Lenexpo” exhibition and congress center on June 29-July 02, 2011. The first navy watercrafts have already arrived at Nevskaya Harbor.

IMDS Business program will start today. It will consist of field conferences, seminars; the exposition will be introduced to the specialist. The official opening ceremony will take place on June 30 and will be attended by the representatives of the Russian Navy, Federal ministries and departments and St. Petersburg administration.

The exposition introduces over 70 foreign companies from 29 countries, 409 novelties are demonstrated by different companies and enterprises. For the first time in the history of IMDS it will host the plenary session of NNAG - NATO Naval Armaments Group. At present IMDS is included into the top list of the main military trade fairs.

Over 40 water crafts will be demonstrated in the Gulf of Finland in front of “Lenexpo”. 3 foreign warships are expected to arrive at the event: German frigate “Hamburg”, Dutch “Van Amstel” “Carr” from the USA.

“Rzhevka” land filed will demonstrate shooting sessions from 10 artillery systems to the representatives of accredited media and official foreign delegation.

Russian specialists are convinced that it is possible to provide safe development of nuclear technologies – Sergey Kirienko

ST.PETERSBURG June 17/ SPB-TASS/ “Safe development of nuclear power engineering is possible”, - claims the head of “Rosatom” Sergey Kirienko. He took part in the discussion organized for the directors of the global power suppliers, which took place in the framework of St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

But he also stressed that “safe development requires advanced technologies, which already exist in Russia and other countries”. Besides, Mr. Kirienko emphasized that “it is essential to make safety standards, prescribed by IAEA for already existing and future Nuclear Power Plants, compulsory for all users. Along with that, there the countries should provide regular and fair information about the situation at all Nuclear Power Plants in the framework of their cooperation with IAEA.”

Mr. Kirienko believes that Nuclear Power Engineering contributes to the global power supply industry and improves ecological situation as it reduced the amount of harmful emissions.

“The new generation of Nuclear Power Engineering, which will exist in 30-40 years, will appear with the help and experience of all world nuclear specialists,” – said the head of “Rosatom” at the end of his speech.

The head of the International Energy Agency believes that Russia will soon enter the Golden Age of gas export

ST.PETERSBURG June 17 /SPB-TASS/ Russia will soon enter the Golden Age as the exporter of gas and other natural resources. The opinion was expressed by the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA) Mr. Nobuo Tanaka at the meeting of global power-suppliers, which took place in the framework of St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Recent accident with Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant has caused reconsideration of the global nuclear power engineering: new safety measures and event complete replacement of nuclear fuel. All German Nuclear Power Plants are scheduled to be closed by 2022. “We expect the share of Nuclear Energy in the Global Energy supply, which is estimated as 14 % by now, to be reduced to 10%”, explained Mr. Tanaka.

These energy losses should be substituted by other sources- coal, gas and renewable resources. The compensation will require about 130 million tons of oil. The demand for gas will grow by 80 milliard m3. Besides, there will be a need for 46 extra terawatt of renewable energy. All this will require gigantic investments.

“We are currently working over the scenario “Golden Gas Source”, says the Head of IEA. “It is obviously the Golden Gas Age for Russia”.

There will be the growth of power consumption, even more intensive than expected before; the gas will become cheaper but the demand for this source of fuel will grow really fast , replacing coal. By the year 2035 natural gas will be the second energy source in the world. According to IEA,, the consumption of gas will grow from 3.3 trillion m3 to 5.5 trillion, which is a 30% increase.
Mr. Tanaka thinks that growing economies of China and India will significantly affect the demand’s growth.
IEA is the autonomous international organization in the framework of the Association of Economic Cooperation and Development. IEA, established in 1974, includes 28 countries and aims at creating the system of collective energy security.

The Government of St. Petersburg and Microsoft signed the cooperation agreement on the development of IT cluster

Today Microsoft and St. Petersburg Government have signed the cooperation agreement, focused on the development of the efficient system of education and training of IT specialists and implementation of modern technologies into the system of public administration. Both sides believe it will contribute to the development of St. Petersburg IT cluster.

The agreement was officially signed at St. Petersburg Economic Forum by the president of “Microsoft International” Jean-Philippe Curtua and the governor of St. Petersburg Valentina Matvienko.

According to the head of Microsoft, the company has already been working with St. Petersburg and successfully launched their number of educational programs. The new agreement includes the construction of Microsoft Information Center in “Ingria” techno-park and company’s participation in St. Petersburg IT cluster.

St. Petersburg hosts over 60 Russian and international IT companies, and the special IT cluster will be formed wit the help of Microsoft.

The city and Microsoft will organize the support program for the young and talented start-upers. The Governor promised to conduct the awarding ceremony for the most talented program participants win the framework of the next St. Petersburg Economic Forum.

When giving a speech at the plenary session at St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, he clarified his position about the country’s priorities regardless the political changes possible to occur due to the forthcoming elections.

“Today I will talk about Russia mostly. About positive changes Russia has managed to achieve. About the economy, essential for my fellow-citizens… About our country as I see it within several years ,and about things which, I believe, should be done. I will talk about the project of our country’s development, which should be brought into life due to the joint efforts of all Russian citizens. And it should be done regardless the political changes and positions some of us will take within next several years. This is what I am in charge of as the President. And my colleagues, who are working with me on the modernization program”, - said Mr. Medvedev.

Besides, the President emphasized that he didn’t regard the model of State capitalism as the economic priority. He made his strategic choice in favor of private enterprises and advised “to get rid of bad habits as soon as possible”.

"It is wrong to orient on steady and successive growth; it may cause stagnation. It is essential to change everything which may drag the breakthrough.”

The President accepted the opinion that “in the beginning of the century the position of State administration in the country’s economy strengthened.” But he is convinced that such policy is no longer effective as it strongly depends on the conjuncture and may cause unwise and impulsive decisions, aimed at saving already existing stock. The principle “State is always right” either brings corruption or protectionism for “friendly companies”. These are the principles of manual control, which have a very limited productivity. Medvedev believes that even “5 year plans” – so popular with some experts, will not save the situation. He is convinced that this economic model is dangerous for the country’s future.

“I choose policy which can provide maximal business opportunities for the millions of citizens, when their economic activity is protected by the State law. Russian economy should be based on private business and investments. The State has to protect those, who are consciously ready to risk with their money and reputation”, - emphasized the President.

Mr. Medvedev suggested 5 main steps essential for the process of country’s modernization: to fasten the process of State property’s privatization, decentralize the system of State powers, improve the legal system, fight corruption and integrate Russia into the global economy by organizing Moscow International Financial center and cancelling the foreign restrictions for the Russian IPO.

Thus, the President ordered the Government to review the privatization list for the State property by August 01, 2011. It was also decided to reduce the maximum insurance rate since 2012 from 34 % to 30% and 20 % for small and middle enterprises.

Besides, Mr. Medvedev emphasized that it is essential to tighten the process of judges’ selection and their legal punishment in case of any violation. Besides, there should be a thorough control of all civil servants and bureaucratic corruption.

Along with these measures Mr. Medvedev suggested tightening the system of selection and control of all civil servants. “We should clean our State of all corruption as soon as possible”.

The President also explained his position regarding the State legal system.
“Our country and every citizen needs unbiased, fair and effective court system. I am convinced that our Legal System needs fresh blood – people with different legal experiences. We will soon make all essential decisions to start the process.

Moreover, the President announced his plans to change the State Legislation and initiate the system of compulsory control for the prosecutors.

China believes reforms are essential for the International Financial System – Hu Jintao

This opinion was expressed by the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Hu Jintao at the plenary session in the framework of St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. “China is ready to deal with the most important problems of the global economy, we are ready to cooperate, discuss and react to the current challenges.”

“The International Financial Crisis strongly affects global economy and personal economies of every country. It has demonstrated us that our financial institutions are not prepared and can not adequately and efficiently react to the situation”, - said the Chinese Leader.

Hu Jintao emphasized the necessity to “strengthen global economic administration”. He also noted the growing role of developing countries and those with forming markets in the global financial administration.

The Chinese Leader suggested integrating of innovations and economy as one of the measures able to change the profile of the global economy. “All countries demonstrate changes in their scientific and technical strategy by the growth of innovations’ investments and innovative education programs for the specialists”.

“Our country makes major efforts aimed at strengthening its scientific and technical potential and creating a new innovative State. We should promote innovative cooperation, stimulate implementation of scientific achievements and help global economy develop at the expense of science and innovation”, - stressed Mr. Hu Jintao.

The presentation of St. Petersburg Cultural Forum took place on June 8 in the framework of the International Exhibition Forum ( “EXPOCENTER”, Moscow). St. Petersburg Cultural Forum is a new large project which combines business congress program with a number of specialized exhibitions ; it convers all spheres of contemporary culture and art industry from modern ideas to the latest innovative technologies.

The presentation in Moscow was specially organized to demonstrate the project to the leading cultural and artistic establishments of Moscow and State authorities.

St. Petersburg divers will clean the water territories in front of “Lenexpo” complex. This action is timed to the Global Environmental Day and Russia Ecologist Day, celebrated on June 5.

Many countries all around the world conduct such “cleaning days” on the first summer weekend. Russia joined the global ecological initiative in 2002. In 2010 the activists cleaned 140 large and small water bodies. In 1.5 hour one St. Petersburg beach at Vasilyevsky Island provided 50 large bags full of different garbage and a huge pile of metal parts, lifted from the coastal water by the members of “Triton” and “Arheo” divers’ clubs.

The initiator of the environmental day, organized in the framework of "Baltic Marine Festival 2011” , is a professional diving instructor Alexander Ingilevich. He believes that yachting and other water sports should be developed simultaneously with “care of our water bodies”.

Festival’s organizers have already announced their plans to conduct a special meeting with all environmental organizations working in the Baltic region and invited all structures and companies, interested in the clean water bodies of our Region, to join their initiative. German and Dutch frigates "Hamburg” and "Van Amstel” (Carel Dorman” type) are expected to visit St. Petersburg and join the defense show.

A large cargo airport is planned to be built near the Port of Ust’-Luga

/SPB-TASS reporter Lev Frolov/. The construction of a large cargo airport, accompanied by the port of Ust’-Luga at the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland and equipped with essential road and train ways, will create a unique transport center in the North-West of Russia.

These plans were announced by the transport specialist of the State Duma Transport Committee Mr. Vadim Oleynikov. He made a report at the plenary session of the specialized field conference "InterAeroCom 2011” , which began its work in St. Petersburg. Over a hundred airlines, construction and engineering enterprises and scientific centers discuss the perspectives of regional airlines development, revival of the national aviation and local airlines.

The profitable location of the new cargo airport, possessing developed infrastructure and the runway of 3760 meters, will enable many transport companies to create more efficient logistic scheme of cargo transportation within Russia, Scandinavia and West Europe.

The problems of small aviation and regional airlines were also discussed at the round-table meetings and seminars. Unfortunately, the number of Russian airports has declined from 1700 to 325 within last 20 years. The new Federal Program of the Russian Transport System Development for the period of 2010-2015 has been recently launched to change the current situation. In 2010 the construction works were performed at 72 transport objects. It’s planned to reconstruct 108 objects by 2015; 517 airports will be reconstructed by 2030.

“Baltic Marine Festival 2011” has raised its sails in St. Petersburg

A group of small yachts and motor-boats is demonstrated outside, the inside exposition is situated in the pavilion 5 and offers interesting variants of ship-modeling along with goods and accessories for tourism, active leisure and yachting.

The official opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy Chairman of St. Petersburg Committee for transport and transit policy Mr. Nadim Iskhakov, the Senior Secretary of St. Petersburg Maritime Council Ms. Tatyana Chekalova, the Vice-president of the Russian Travel Union Mr. Sergey Korneev and the Director General of JSC “Lenexpo” and a professional sailing sportsman Mr. Sergey Alexeev.

They were talking about the importance of yachting and sailing for the citizens of St. Petersburg – the Russian Sea Capital and emphasized that Peter I wanted the city to become the largest shipbuilding and scientific center and one of the biggest Baltic ports. The event is conducted by JSC “Lenexpo” and supported by the Government of St. Petersburg, different State and public marine association, unions, Sailing and Yachting Federation and passenger ships’ owners. The list of participants includes over 100 Russian and foreign companies.

The Festival is a transformed variant of “Baltic Boat Show”, earlier conducted by “Lenexpo” company. That project has come through rises and falls; besides it was strongly affected by the crises of 2008. It took a while for the field market to revive and continue growing. That’s why it was decided to turn the “boat exposition” not really popular with public into the exciting Festival, contributing to the development and reviving of maritime traditions of St. Petersburg. The new concept was successfully tried last year and confirmed that all changes had been made for good.

"Baltic Marine Festival 2011” consists of the boats and yachts exposition , interesting entertaining and cultural program called “Baltic Music Festival”, “Miss and Mister Baltic” contest, All-Russian contest of stand ship modeling, and “Lenexpo” sailing regatta, conducted in the Gulf of Finland. The First International “St. Petersburg Gas Forum 2011” has begun

Event’s program turned out to be so intense that the traditional opening ceremony was conducted only in the evening.

The Forum is very important for the development of Russian gas industry – one of the main segments of the country’s economy. The idea was expressed by VIP guestsб ,attending the opening ceremony: the deputy Chairman of JSC “GAZPROM” Mr. Valery Gobev, the Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg Mr. Alexey Sergeev, and the Director General of JSC “GAZPROM distribution” Mr. Sergey Gustov. They all emphasized that the efficiency of gas industry strongly affects the growth of national economy, social development and peoples’ commonwealth.

The specialists believe that such Forum will help to review existing experience and develop further strategy. Moreover, Russian gas industry has a lot to demonstrate: due to the common “GAZPROM” policy National equipment market has started to grow and develop. Almost 95 % of all gas distributing equipment, used by the field enterprises, was manufactured in Russia.

International Day of Water Cleaning will be organized at the BALTIC MARINE FESTIVAL

BALTIC MARINE FESTIVAL will take place on June 02-02 2011 in “Lenexpo”. It will gather all fans of yachting. The event will definitely become a bright city holiday for everybody who regards yachting as the way of life.

The Festival’s organizers and participants want to draw the attention of St. Petersburg citizens to the situation with the city’s water places. The ecological actions, conducted in the Festival’s framework, will be timed to the Global Day of Environment and Russian Ecologist Day.

Alexander Ingilevitch, the initiator of these ecological actions, PADI instructor and the head of “ARHEO” expedition club, says that the development of yachting and other water sports should be accompanied by the promotion of environmental care of our water areas. The global Water Cleaning action, initiated by PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors), will be conducted in early June in many countries. Many Diving –clubs will go to the local water bodies to clean the shores, bottoms and collect garbage. The action traditionally involves divers and all environmentally-friendly people.

In Russia the project has been working since 2002. In 2010 the International Day of Water Cleaning gathered 25 thousand people in Russia; they cleaned 140 water bodies.

In St. Petersburg “Triton” and “Arheo” clubs cleaned the beach area at Vasilyevsky Island. 50 bags of garbage were collected within 1,5 hour and tons of metal parts were lifted from water.

In 2011 St. Petersburg Divers Association is planning to clean the bottom of “Lenexpo” water area on June 4 during the BALTIC MARINE FESTIVAL . An on June 5 everybody is invited to take part in the cleaning of St. Petersburg’s Marine Façade (The Sea embankment). The action will be organized by the Baltic Marine Festival, Russian Geographic Society and Administration of Vasileostrovsky District.

The projects is supported by the State Duma, Russian Ministries of education and science, natural resources and ecology, agriculture, Federal State forest agency and Russian academy of agricultural science. The list of exhibitors includes over 60 companies from Russia and Germany.

Biotechnology is one of the main scientific subjects of the XXI century determining the level of global civilization. It plays important role in the strategy of dealing with global challenges such as food supply, medicine and climate changes. The production, provided with the help of bio-technologies, can be successfully applied in almost every economy branch: agriculture and fishing industry, food supply, medicine and pharmaceutical industry. Bio-technologies are included into the list of priorities for the Russian long-term development strategy.

Global economic growth, Russian creative potential and the development of modern technologies are chosen as the key topics for St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2011 , which will take place on June 16-18, 2011. The information was officially announced by the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Ms. Elvira Nabiullina at the press conference devoted to the forthcoming event.

According to Ms. Nabiullina, Forum 2011 will be conducted under the motto “New Era Leaders”. “The slogan was deliberately chosen in accordance with the situation we faced after the last economic crises. We have to deal with new challenges and try to determine new potentials”, - explained Ms. Nabiullina.
Forum’s program will include three large segments: global economic growth; Russian creative potential and horizons’ extending technologies. New Russian and foreign developments, already prepared for the commercialization, will be introduced in the Forum’s framework.

1074 people, including 69 foreign and 336 Russian heads of large enterprises, have already confirmed their participation. The leading world regions and countries including USA, UAE, EU, African countries, Japan and etc. will be represented by the State authorities and business. “We are expecting the increase of representatives from the countries with growing economies, especially from Asian region, besides the Organizing Committee has decided to provide free participation for the Japanese delegation », emphasized the Minister.

V International Maritime Defence Show will take place in St. Petersburg

The event is organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. It will be traditionally conducted on the banks of the Neva River on June 29-July 3 2011.

The Organizing committee informs our reporter that the representatives of the Ministry of Defense, Foreign Affairs, Federal Agency for Military and Technical Cooperation, Government of St Petersburg and Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Rosoboronexport” will take part in the IMDC 2011.

The military exposition will demonstrate the production of Russian and foreign enterprises, new variants of military and naval equipment. Business program will traditionally contain congresses, VIP negotiations and business visits to the field enterprises. The exposition will cover all aspects of naval weapons and equipment construction: shipbuilding, power supply units, naval weapons and navigation, naval aviation, materials and technologies and Russian Naval infrastructure.

Much exhibition space will be taken by the equipment and IT suppliers and companies working with shipbuilding and weapons project consulting, insurance and financing.

360 participants, including 60 foreign representatives, have already registered for the event. The invitations have been sent to 91 countries; 38 foreign delegations have confirmed their visits so far.

The water area in front of the Marine Station’s berth will host over 40 vessels: ships, caters and other Russian Naval water crafts. Four foreign warships are also expected to attend the IMDC 2011.

This Trade Fair demonstrates over 100 companies, producing goods and services for horses and equestrians, and more than 200 horses from different regions of Russia. The Event was officially opened by the Director general of JSC “Lenexpo” Sergey Alexeev and the president of Equestrian Federation of the Leningrad Region Viktor Loctionov.

"Hipposphere 2011” covers all aspects of human -horse interference and aims at reviving the traditions of Russian horse breeding.

The director general of “Posplemkonzavod” Association Alexander Timchenko is convinced that the revival of Russian horse industry is impossible without proper State support. Russia is losing its bloodstock: last year it shortened by 40 thousand, at present it only has 1 346 thousand horses. The declining tendency has continued since 2001. Much concern is caused by the poor condition of our horse-breeding and prize horse-breeding as its inseparable part. The success of horse-breeding directly depends on the hippodromes, which make money on horse betting business. But they have been recently regarded as gaming. At present only jsc and ltd hippodromes are allowed to provide betting service. This ban seriously affects prize horse-breeding and the whole industry in general.
But "Hipposphere 2011” fills the air with clops and horseshows’ ringing. The pavilion has just hosted “Breeds’ Parade” and outside territories provide interesting entertainments for kids: a real camel is walking in front of the Pavilion 7. Special kids’ day – May 3 will provide free admission to the young citizens of St. Petersburg.

"Hipposphere” project was first launched in 1999. From the very beginning the organizers tried to destroy prejudice about horseback riding available for the rich only. In 2011 the Trade Fair will demonstrate the descendants of famous Russian battle horses. The International Trade Fair was attended by the Governor of St. Petersburg Valentina Matvienko. “St. Petersburg is the most northern city, traditionally lacking sunny days. So we should make our short summer the most bright and optimistic”, - said the Governor when observing the exposition.
Ms. Matvienko also emphasized that City’s authorities had always demonstrated special attitude to the natural green decoration. Budget expenses, used for the planting of greenery, grow year after year. This year St. Petersburg gardeners and designers will present new “flower surprises” to the city citizens. The city will receive new flower beds and lawn expositions. Over 20 thousand new trees, 250 thousand bushes and 12 million flowers will be planted in 2011. Over a million of tulips were planted last fall, and it is expected to get them blooming by May 9.

When giving a welcome speech at the opening ceremony, the Governor of St. Petersburg Valentina Matvienko emphasized that the Salon should be regarded as the annual book festival – one of the most important events in the country’s cultural life, conducted for the 6^th time.
“Our city deserves to be called Russian Cultural Capital: and the passion for reading and books has always been the basis of St. Petersburg culture”. Such conclusion was made by the participants of the First International Writers Forum, which has opened today in St. Petersburg in the framework of the International Book Salon .

Forum was attended by the Chairman of the Russian Audit Chamber and President of the Russian Books Union Sergey Stepashin, the head of the Federal Agency For Press and Mass Communications Mikhail Seslavinsky, the Governor of St. Petersburg Valentina Matvienko and famous Russian and foreign bookmen. Daniil Granin, the honorable Citizen of St. Petersburg and famous writer, reminded that “long ago every country had special translator working with Russian literature. Unfortunately our school of translators has been lost. But it’s reasonable to restore old connections, as we will not be able to promote our literature without efficient translators”, - said Mr. Granin and emphasized that the quality of translation would greatly affect book’s popularity.

Sergey Stepashin supported the idea and drew attention to the quality of modern literature offered for translation. “I would not send such low-quality “masterpieces” abroad”. We should save the face. It is not bad that foreign people know and read Dostoevsky and Tolstoy even more than the Russians do”, - said the president of the Russian Book Union.

According to Mikhail Seslavinsky, the Head of the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications, the Government has started to develop the measures aimed to support foreign translators. “Of course we will not reach the immediate result but it is important that the process will be finally launched”.
Writers’ Forum was focused on reading promotion and copyright. The Governor of St. Petersburg expressed the hope that the Forum would initiate new intellectual projects and suggested conducting such forum on a regular basis. Landscape works will be conducted along Nalichnaya Street. It has been announced today at the meeting with Aleksey Sergeev, the Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg, devoted to the problems XV St. Petersburg Economic Forum and related engineering works and territorial accomplishment.

Talking about the forthcoming Forum, Mr. Sergeev reminded that the main principle Forum’s Organizers should follow was “every next event should be better than the previous one”. Special attention is planned to be paid to the security service and technical equipment. A special group of emergency services will be formed for the Forum’s period. Special shore cleaning and power engineering reconstruction works will be performed in advance.

64 % of St. Petersburg citizens read books

These numbers have been announce today by Valentina Matvienko, the Governor of St. Petersburg, in “Lenexpo” exhibition and congress center during the opening ceremony of the VI International Book Salon 2011.

The company will provide power supply for “Lenexpo” exhibition and congress center which will host the main country’s economic event.

Essential engineering works will take place in 5 “Lenexpo” pavilions from June 1 to June 22, 2011. Within this period “Lenexpo” premises will be completely reequipped and supplied with additional power sources and upgraded infrastructure, such as special diesel engine plants and new cable lines aimed to upgrade the system of power supply of “Lenexpo” complex.

42 million rubles will be invested by “UNEG” into the project. The company is the monopolist of the united electric grid. It operates power engineering establishments in 73 regions of the Russian Federation. Right now “UNEG” operates over 800 power substations.

ST. PETERSBURG, April 6 /SPB-TASS reporter Nicolay Kondratenko/. The International Forum “Holiday Decoration and City Advertising 2011” has started its work at “Lenexpo” premises. The event is organized by St. Petersburg Committee for Press and Media Cooperation, State Unitary Enterprise “City Advertising Center”, North-West Branch of the Russian Association of Communicative Agencies and JSC “Lenexpo”.

Alexander Korennkikov, the chairman of St. Petersburg Committee for Press and Media Cooperation, considers this Forum to be an important event for all advertising industry of St. Petersburg.
Forum’s program consists of three main sections: holiday decoration technologies, latest advertising solutions and social advertising. The new conception offers the most productive cooperation possibilities for all market players.

Sergey Alexeev, the director general of JSC “Lenexpo”, points out that this Forum has become the unique platform for professional cooperation between two closely related industries: exhibition and advertising.

Forum’s business program will be devoted to the important issues of City’s advertising policy regarding social and outside advertising, advertising legislation and the latest tendencies of event and mass holiday organization. The awarding ceremony “Contribution to advertising” will become the most exciting program’s moment.

The exposition in the pavilion 7 creates Christmas atmosphere and demonstrates many beautifully decorated Christmas trees and bright compositions which may be successfully applied for the City’s holiday decoration.

ST.PETERSBURG, April 6, 2011 / SPB-TASS reporter Nicolay Kondratenko/ The international Forum “Holiday Decoration and City Advertising 2011” will open today in “Lenexpo”. The event will contribute to the development of new advertising forms and technologies. The project is initiated by St. Petersburg Committee for Press and Media cooperation, North-West Branch of Russian communicative Agencies and JSC “Lenexpo”.

We are surrounded by different types of advertising in the streets, malls, subway, magazines and newspapers…. Advertisements sometimes provide very useful information, but, unfortunately, they are often annoying and irritating. Thus, Forum participants from Russia, France, Finland, Czech Republic and Estonia will gather to discuss the appropriate forms of advertising. To make the city citizens involved into the discussion, the Event Organizers have prepared a special live TV studio placed in a passenger bus. It will start its voyage at Vosstania square and go to “Lenexpo” exhibition and congress center. All passengers will be able to take part in the discussion focused on the problems of advertising quality. According to the representative of TV Company Mikhail Burtsev, all critics and comments from the city citizens are important and essential for important decisions.

The discussion will touch upon many questions including State advertising legislation, city advertising policy, and new technologies for public events. The program will offer “ideas’ fair”, contest of social posters and “The new look” contest of student projects, workshops and master-classes. The awarding ceremony “Advertising contribution” will become the most exciting moment of the whole program. The first golden medal for advertising was given to Ludwig Metsl by Alexander III for the first Russian advertising agency. Mr. Metsl is the author of a world-known phrase “Advertising is the motor trade”.

Food, equipment and technologies for food industry are introduced at the specialized trade fairs "Interfood - 2011" and "Prodtech -2011", which will open today in “Lenexpo”. The participants are companies from Russia, Germany, Greece, Indonesia, Belorussia, Ukraine and even Pakistan. The North-West Food Forum – the most significant regional field event is also timed to these trade fairs.

This year “Interfood” celebrates its 15^th anniversary. Within all these year the Trade Fair has helped to supply our food stores with tasty products of good quality. In 2011 the exposition demonstrates a variety of pastry and bread, meat, vegetables, beverages and other products.
“Prodtech” will demonstrate the latest food equipment and technologies. This year the exposition has many new exponents just planning to enter the North-West market.

Both Trade Fairs are aimed at strengthening of international and interregional cooperation, developing of Russian food industry’s efficiency and its investment attractiveness.

The events’ program will offer a large section “School of Commerce” and business –section “Healthy Nutrition”, focused on the problems of small –business and consumption market.
The discussion “Technical Control System for the countries, included into the Customs Union” will also take place within business program’s framework along with the traditional annual contest “The best food production”. Contest winners will be awarded with medals and certificates from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. Matchmaking service will be also available to all participants during 3 exhibition days.
