THE VII SAINT-PETERSBURG INTERNATIONAL BOOK SALON SUMS UP THE RESULTS

From April 26 to April 29 in Lenexpo Saint-Petersburg International Book Salon’2012 passed and brought together modern Russian and foreign writers, authority representatives, book market specialists, scientists and of course, the real fans of reading. The forum was visited by more than 16 thousand people, about 250 events passed within its network. More than 250 firms from 13 countries of the world presented their products.

The Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko, the Chairman of Audit Chamber of the RF, the President of the Russian Book Union Sergey Stepashin, the Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Print and Mass Media Vladimir Grigoriev, the Executive Director of ExpoForum JSC, the General Director of Lenexpo Sergey Voronkov and other guests of honour took part in the official opening ceremony.

According to the Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko, St. Petersburg is not only the cultural capital of Russia, but also the most literate city. The government of St. Petersburg regularly supports both the young authors and the skilled writers. "This year we are planning to direct 21 million rubles to the publication of books by St. Petersburg writers so that young and demanded writers had the possibility to bring their works to readers", he noted.

Exhibition

In the exposition of the Book Salon, there were about 250 participants from Armenia, Belarus, Hungary, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Russia, USA, Turkey, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and France. The most imposant stands belonged to the publishing group and the trading house Azbooka-Atticus, the Association of Book Trade Enterprises, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia, the Hungarian Cultural, Scientific and Information Centre of Institute of Balashshi, the Consulate General of the USA in St. Petersburg, the book network Bukvoed and many others.

The company Abris-SPb which represents the publishing houses Prosvescheniye and Drofa in Northwest Russia has been participating in the Book Salon for 7 years, and this time presented some new books for teachers. According to the employee of the company Maria Ivanova, the exhibition met the expectations: the experts reached the target audience, held presentations of new books and visited interesting actions of the business programme. “We will certainly participate next year!”, she concluded.

The forum of this year was also marked by a large-scale entertainment programme with meetings with the Booker Prize 2010 winner Howard Jacobson and the author of the best-seller "Elegance of the Hedgehog" Muriel Barbery. Samuil Lurye showed the anniversary edition, the People’s artist Aleksander Filippenko presented the anniversary editions of Fridrikh Gorenshtein, Leonid Parfyonov held the autograph session.

The author of the cult novel "Loneliness in the Network" Janusz Leon Wisniewski has met readers and told about the novel which he is currently writing. It is based on the conversation about life between a mother and a son, for that reason the working title is "On Facebook with my son". The author emphasised that the new book is a tribute in memory of his mother: "I put a lot of personal memories in this book".

During all the days of the Salon, there has been organised the Copyright Centre in Lenexpo where specialists of book branch could ask the questions and receive legal advice.

Business programme

The II International Literary Forum became the central action of the Book salon. In the first working day, the discussion was about the world’s growing interest to the Russian history showed in books. Sergey Stepashin regretted the reduced circulation of historical books in Russia: "The average circulation of a book in our country makes 6,500 copies, the circulation of a historical book is no more than 5,000 copies. It means that less than 0.01 % of Russians can read printed historical books". Among participants of the forum there was also the archimandrite Tikhon who declared that a state strategy of cultural development is needed, as well as the citizens’ moral health care. According to him, the idea of creation of the strategy has already been supported by a number of public associations and unions, and also by the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill.

“The days of France” have passed at the Salon’2012. As the exhibition honor guest, the Book Salon of Nice has presented French literary heritage and the newest trends of French book branch. Guests of Salon got acquainted with such projects as “Russian presence in the literary landscape of Nice” by Olympia Alberti, “The role of Solzhenitsyn’s activity for France” by Bertrand le Meignen, “Nice – the culture city” by Patrick Besson. Besides, in the presentation zone there were public French language lessons for beginners, the meeting with the author of a modern French detective Adrien Goëts, and the photo exhibition “100 monuments – 100 writers”. The Vice Governor of St. Petersburg Vasily Kichedzhi noted that Russia and France are connected by strong friendship in many spheres. The cross year of language and culture between Russia and France passed in 2010 so successfully that the countries decided to continue active cooperating.

The structural changes of Europe book branch in the last two years, and also the copyright in Internet were discussed by Russian and foreign experts at the “round tables” which passed at the Salon. The representatives of the Union of Writers of Sweden told why in European shops the sale of book volumes had decreased. They noted that the analysis of European book market would help experts to predict the situation in Russia: “In Sweden, sales of books in shops fell to 10 % because the buyers began to use Internet shops. And it’s really convenient to buy on the Internet information on the editions. The choice of books is wider too!" Internet sales in Europe make presently 30 % from the total amount of the market. In Russia, this figure is much lower – only 4-6 %. The reason of that is the Internet piracy.

The problems of school libraries were discussed at the conference «Reading children and adults: the book and personality development». The report by the President of Association of school libraries of Russia Tatyana Zhukova was heard. There were also presentations of manuals by publishing houses “Oniks”, “Russkoe slovo” and “Azbooka-Atticus”. According to Tatyana Zhukova, school libraries need to be updated, and it’s a necessary component of education modernisation in today’s Russia. ”In a new paradigm, the library shouldn't be separated from the educational process. We need the lessons to be organised by specialised teachers together with a librarian”, she added.

More than 1,500 experts took part in the events of the business programme of the Book salon.

Programme for children

Specially for the youngest visitors, during all the working days of the Salon there were organised the events of the Biblionyanya series, meetings with children's writers, joint readings aloud, the workshops of children's artists “How to draw the fairy tale”, open lessons for school students, theatrical performances and many other things!

Thanks to the webinar organised by the Leningrad regional children's library (LRCL), the Tikhvin teenagers could participate in the meeting with children's writer Ekaterina Murashova and artist Katya Tolstaya, without leaving the hometown. As the manager of Department of readers service of LRCL Ekaterina Kuzmina explained, it is important that inhabitants of Russian out-of-the-way place could learn everything about current trends in book branch: “Being navigators on modern children's literature, we can recommend to parents and children some publishing houses and tell where to find good books”.

How to increase the speed of reading, to allocate the most important in the text and to improve perception of the work, the representatives of the Centre of additional education “Yunium” told during the fancy-dressed workshop “Read “The War and The Peace” in a night”. It took place during the children's day in the presentation zone of the Book salon. The most part of listeners were school students. They carried out tasks and answered questions with delight. Thanks to the leaders in historical suits and the active participation of kids, the event turned into a real literary holiday!

In the period from 12 to 14 April an exhibition "Automechanika. St. Petersburg " - the oldest international project of the Northwest region in the area of automobile components, spare parts, equipment for garage and service centres, existing since 1993 - will be held at "Lenexpo". A new stage of the exhibition development is its focus on the b2b market exclusively. It is a result of the first joint effort of "ExpoForum" and "Messe Frankfurt RUS" alliance.

Automechanika is a number one exhibition brand in the world in this field. The exhibition is held in 10 countries, and in each such country it is a leader in the industry.

In 2012 organisers of this event - "ExpoForum", which in 2010 acquired an exhibition business of "Lenexpo", and "Messe Frankfurt RUS" - changed significantly the concept of the exhibition in St. Petersburg. This year "Automechanika. St. Petersburg" is focused on the professional community exclusively. The project includes a great business program, jointly formed by "ExpoForum" and OOO "Messe Frankfurt RUS" with participation of the Government of St. Petersburg, and exhibition of automotive components, spare parts, accessories and equipment for garages and service centres.

As compared with the last year the exhibition area will increase three-fold. Foreign companies will make about 50% of the total number of exhibitors - it's a rare rate for Russian exhibitions.

Over 100 companies from Russia, Belarus, Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Italy, China, Poland, Turkey, Estonia and Japan will participate in the exhibition. They will present automobile components and motor spare parts, components for vehicle production lines, service centre equipment, etc.

Simultaneously with this exhibition a commercial vehicles show "InAVTOTRANS", where buses, trucks and other special vehicle models will be presented, will take place.

In 2012 a new level will be reached by the business part of the project "Automechanika. St. Petersburg", which will provide possibilities for strengthening business contacts, discussing the most important trends of the industry and improving qualification of the experts. An international conference "Modernization of Road Transport - Strategy 2020" will take place, as well as round-table discussions in the following topics: use of navigation systems, application of gas fuel plants, specialist training, industrial policy of the city, etc.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a number of additional business activities, including "Suppliers' School" (Organisers: Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and Support, Committee for Economic Development, Industrial Policy and Trade of St. Petersburg), conference "Development of cooperation between Polish and Russian companies in the field of automotive mechanics" (Organisers: Department of Trade and Investment Promotion of the Consulate General of Poland in St. Petersburg, St. Petersburg Association of Automobile Components Manufacturers), workshop "Innovative technologies for training specialists of the automotive industry," round table "Environmental innovations in securing safety of road transport industry in megacities", master class: "Organisation and improvement of efficiency of the car service centres" etc.

Today St. Petersburg automobile cluster is one of the most dynamically developing segments of the city economy. Plants of the biggest world manufacturers of automobiles and their components are located and operated here. The aggregate volume of investments in construction of new automobile productions amounted to appr. USD 1,3 billion. It is expected that by 2018 the annual car production volume will reach at least 1 billion vehicles per year. Vehicle manufacturing promotes establishing and improvement of automobile component production. Thus, it is essential for the city to arrange a site to exhibit new products for automobile industry and motor car market. This is the very mission of the exhibition "Automechanika. St. Petersburg".

St. Petersburg Auto Show will take place in “LENEXPO” complex on October 20-23, 2011.

The revival of Russian auto market including the North-West Region and positive dynamics, demonstrated by equipment market arouse interest of the global car –suppliers.

“Baltic Marine Festival” will take place in “Lenexpo” exhibition and congress center on June 2-5, 2011. The Event traditionally combines interesting business and exhibition program with the exciting Water Festival, including thematic yacht and music parties.

This year program is expected to be very rich for events. There will be caters’ and aqua-bikes’ parades on June 4. Besides, everyone will be able to join the world of yachting and take an express training navigations course, make a short sea trip or do a yacht test drive.

Backing for NEVA 2011 gathers pace. Press Release April 2011

Support for NEVA 2011, the international maritime conference and exhibition taking place in St. Petersburg between September 20^th and 23^rd this year, has gathered momentum both within Russia and internationally in recent weeks. Rod Keay, managing director of Dolphin Exhibitions, the event organiser, says: “Support in Russia, and the CIS as well, has grown exponentially since the beginning of the year.”

The event, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, is increasingly being viewed within Russia as not simply a niche maritime exhibition, but as a global business-to-business event. As a result it is being backed by the domestic business community at the highest level.

This is reflected in official support for NEVA 2011 for the first time from both the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RUIE) and the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Mr A N Sokhin, president of the RUIE, recently described NEVA 2011 as ‘a leading international event’ and a ‘powerful tool’ which makes a ‘high value input to international co-operation and innovation’.

Similarly, Mr G G Petrov, vice president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the Russian Federation has said: “We expect the NEVA 2011 Exhibition and Conference will benefit the development of innovation for Russian shipbuilding, the development of national industry on the basis of advanced technologies, the promotion of maritime products and services to global markets, and the attraction of investments to the shipbuilding and offshore marine technology industries.”

Furthermore NEVA 2011‘s incorporation of port equipment and technology developments provides a platform from which to improve the competitive position of Russian Federation ports. For the first time NEVA 2011 has been officially recommended by the Association of Russian Commercial Sea Ports as an event in which ASOP committees for investment, infrastructure and technology should participate.

Major maritime companies in Russia will also be exhibiting. For the first time, NEVA 2011 will see a significant presence from the Russian integrated shipbuilding group, United Shipbuilding Company (USC). Its participation in the exhibition will showcase the capabilities of all yards and design bureaus that are members of USC.

There is a growing belief that NEVA 2011 will not just deliver benefits for the Russian Federation, but for the wider group of CIS states as well. Mr Ch Izmailov, president of the executive council, CIS Transport Coordination Council points out that the location of St. Petersburg, which is a hub for shipbuilding and repair yards and sea and river transportation infrastructure, presents a significant opportunity for companies and organisations in the Russian Federation and CIS to come together to seek improved transport efficiencies. The most recent example is the official support confirmed this month by the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Ukraine via the Ukrainian State Administration for Sea & River Transport ‘Ukrmorrechflot’. “There are unique possibilities to use the NEVA-20011 exhibition to discuss types of ships, port equipment, modern navigation and ship safety systems, and innovative IT technologies to increase port competitiveness,” says Mr Izmailov. “Frank dialogue and pragmatic cooperation is the optimum basis on which to increase transport efficiency.”

NEVA 2011 is also shaping up to be a vital bridge between shipbuilding and shipping interests in Russia and the CIS and international organisations. For the first time this year the European Shipbuilding Association (CESA) is on the Conference Advisory Committee, providing a further opportunity for the development of closer ties between the Russian and EU maritime sectors. Mr Keay adds: “The membership of the Advisory Committee is the strongest since 1991 from the Russian side, and includes the Ministry of Transportation of the Russian Federation and, for the first time, representatives from Gazprom.”

The event will also be used by international groups for formal and informal discussions with Russian interests, headed by over 17 national pavilions and industry groups. German and Dutch marine equipment associations have already scheduled meetings with their Russian counterparts. “These groups have clearly identified the opportunities as 50 vessel types are due for construction for Russian interests, totalling over 800 newbuilds in the next few years,” adds Mr Keay. The Russian commercial sea fleet now totals some 1,500 vessels with annual shipbuilding orders placed outside Russia estimated at around US$1 billion.

The international presence at NEVA 2011 exhibition will be much broader than in previous years. Singapore has confirmed that it will have a national pavilion while South Korea will be represented by a national industry group for the first time. “We have seen big increases in exhibitor numbers from Poland and Turkey, and we have also recently signed up the UK Shipbuilding and Shiprepairers Association,” says Mr Keay. “Since January, demand for exhibition space internationally has really taken off and we are well ahead of where we were at the same point in 2009.” The global reach of NEVA participation is also underlined by the appearance of first time exhibitors from Japan and Israel.

This year Dolphin has secured two additional exhibition halls, taking the number available to eight, and seven of these are already sold out. “My message to the industry, both inside and outside of Russia, is that if you are interested in participating in NEVA 2011 act quickly or it will be too late,” adds Mr Keay.

Interest in the conference that will be held alongside the exhibition is also gathering pace and Mr Keay highlights the fact that for the first time there is a specific forum on inland waterway developments. He says: “There is a growing awareness that Russia has to tap into its inland waterway resources and use them to enhance transport efficiency. The formerly closed Russian inland waterway community is starting to see the Russian Federation as part of a wider European inland waterway system and NEVA 2011 is taking place at precisely the right time to build international cooperation in this sector.”

This high profile focus stands alongside the central themes of shipbuilding, maritime Arctic developments, a specialist focus on shiprepair, the reconstruction of the fisheries fleet and the establishment of a major offshore support fleet.

Today St. Petersburg International Book Salon is regarded as one of the main book forums in Russia and Eastern Europe; this status is confirmed by the sign of a “UFI approved event”.

This year the exposition hosts over 300 companies from Russia, Armenia, Germany, Spain, Italy, Cuba, Ukraine, France, Estonia and the Republic of Belarus. These are writers, book distributors, polygraphists and e-books manufacturers, libraries and universities on-line book stores, regional authorities and others. Due to the traditional support, provided by the Government of St. Petersburg, the large segment of the Salon’s exposition will be devoted the publishing enterprise of St. Petersburg. It will contain around 130 companies.

In 2011 Salon offers very interesting program; many events will be devoted to the 300 anniversary of M. Lomonosov and 50^th anniversary of the first manned spaceflight, performed by Y. Gagarin. The program will include over 300 business and cultural events such as conferences, presentations, seminars, discussions and meetings with different authors.

Italy and Spain are the official guests of the Book Salon 2011 which is certainly reflected in the Salon’s program, offering a variety of cross-cultural events. Thus, the Italian stand will introduce the project called “The image of Italy. Book-envoy of the Italian culture worldwide”, and the library of Marilena Ferrari Fund, constantly kept in the Italian Institute of Culture in St. Petersburg. Here all visitors will be able to observe the books by Italian authors and attend Italian language classes.

The Ministry of Culture of Spain, Spanish Embassy, Consulate General in St. Petersburg and the center of Spanish culture and language “ADELANTE” will introduce special exposition fully demonstrating “the world of Spanish literature”. They also promise many interesting contests and lotteries, meeting and other events. The only Spanish book store in St. Petersburg and ADELANTE library will introduce their novelties to public. The special guest from Spain will be the famous Spanish writer Luis Alfredo Conde.

Besides, St. Petersburg Book salon has prepared two new projects: the section of antiquarian literature and ex-libris exposition.

The exposition of antiquarian books will be composed of the collections of the famous St. Petersburg books shops “Iskatel”, “SOVA” and “Mir Iskusstva”.

Here visitors will learn more about the antique editions devoted to the history of Russia, bibliographies, history, architecture, children literature, philosophy, foreign literature, old post cars and photos and etc.

The exposition and awarding ceremony for the winners of the “I International Student Ex-libris Contest” will also be conducted in the framework of Salon’s program. The exhibition will demonstrate over 400 projects performed with various techniques. Over 1000 works from 42 Russian cities and 11 countries were submitted to the jury, formed of the famous artists from Russia, USA, Austria, Turkey, Finland and Switzerland. The contest is organized by the International Association of booklovers, the Museum of Ex-libris and Russian Ex-libris Association. The event is conducted in assistance with the Russian Book Union and International Federation of Ex-libris Societies (FISAE).

The International Writers Forum, organized by the Russian Book Union in assistance with the Government of St. Petersburg, can be regarded as one of the key Salon’s events. This forum is the first stage of the long-term project, aimed at promoting Russian literature and reforming Russian book market.

The agreement on the book supply and copyright exchange with Cuba’s specialists will take place in the Salon’s framework. In 2010 the Cuban Book Institute and Book Industry Association singed the memorandum about the supply of Russian books to Cuba, copyright and information exchange. The Cuban delegation will consist of the President of the National Cuban Institute and some Cuban publishers.

The list of interesting events which will take place in the “Book Salon 2011” includes the awarding ceremony for the laureates of “The best book of the year” contest, organized by the Association of Russian Book Publishers and supported by the Federal Agency for Press and Media, and “Literature express” – the excursion to the famous literature places of our city conducted by St. Petersburg writers for the exhibition guests.
The action “Public lessons” will also take place during the Book Salon. These public lessons on literature, math, English and other subjects will be conducted by the best teachers of St. Petersburg, winners of the regional and all-Russian contests such as “the Teacher of the year”, “My best lesson” and etc.

XVI International specialized Trade Fair “Flowers and Landscapes Festival”

The XVI International Specialized Trade Fair “Flowers and Landscapes Festival” will take place in “Lenexpo” exhibition and congress center on April 21-24, 2011. The event has been conducted since 1995. It has already become one of the leading exhibition projects in the North-West of Russia. This year it will gather over 200 companies from Russia and abroad.

St. Petersburg is often called an open-air museum. But the city is famous not only for its museums, palaces and theatres but for the amazingly beautiful landscape parks of Peterhof, Pushkin and Pavlovsk. “Automechanika. St. Petersburg” follows the traditions of the largest auto project in the North-West region “Auto+automechanika. St. Petersburg” , which was a part of the international project “Automechanika Global”, which included 13 trade fairs in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America. The Event was annually organized since 1993, in 2001 it received the sing “UFI approved” In 2010 it was decided to change the event format and divide it into two independent segments.

The official opening ceremony took place on February 17, 2011. The list of participants contained around 50 participants and included Russian, Italian, German, Serbian, Turkish and French enterprises.

They demonstrated spare parts for passenger cars and trucks, accumulators, bumpers, car grilles, auto cosmetics and equipment, services station equipment and accessories, garage equipment, car accessories and etc.

“Automechanika. St. Petersburg” was organized in B2B format and offered rich business program, special presentation zone. “Aurora” auto center conducted FIAT and Ssang Yong test drives during the period of exhibition.

Special Job Fair for auto industry and auto service became a new exhibition section. St. Petersburg auto enterprises and staff agencies Ford, Huyndai, Petroscan, Manpower (Toyota, Nissan), Kelly-services and others offered open vacancies and training courses. Head Hunter Company was the official informational partner. The Job fair was visited by several hundred students from St. Petersburg and Veliky Novgorod.

The V International Conference “AutoInvest”, focused on investment attraction to the production of automotive components, coincided with the Trade Fair. The conference was organized by the North-West Development and Investment Agency. AutoInvest is the largest specialized event in Russia, regarded as a unique platform for business cooperation and experience share for the specialists of automotive components industry. The idea to unite two projects at one place is very perspective as b2b format of the Trade Fair gives additional possibilities for the discussion and dialogue about the perspectives of Russian auto industry.

The presentation of St. Petersburg International Auto Salon – the second part of “Auto+Automechanika” project, which will take place in “Lenexpo” exhibition and congress center in October 2011, also took place in the framework of Trade Fair’s business program.

Salon is aimed at promotion of the leading world car and components manufacturers in St. Petersburg and Russia and general and stimulation of car sales in St. Petersburg and North-West region of Russia.

“Russian auto industry has overcome crisis, every second foreign car, which is sold in Russia, has been made at the Russian factories. Foreign investments and technologies support three main auto clusters in Tolyatti, Kaluga and St. Petersburg.” Vladimir Putin, 23.12. 2010.

Field experts expect the market of new passenger cars to grow by 27% in 2011 and in 2012 it will also grow by 10-12 % and reach 2.5 million cars. St. Petersburg takes 6-8% of all sales. The development of Russian auto market and sales growth stimulate industry of car service and maintenance.

S. Raykov, the director of this auto project, announced that the leading Russian and foreign auto manufacturers were invited to take part in October’s Event. They will demonstrate auto novelties, including passenger cars, busses, trucks and other vehicles.

The trade fair is business oriented; it will include several thematic expositions: “Auto sound”, Auto light”, Tunning”, Tires and Discs”, “Services”.

The results of “Automechanika. St. Peterbsurg” confirm that most participants are satisfied with the event’s level and express intention to participate in the event in 2012. The representatives of Messe Frankfurt RUS also emphasiz that foreign companies such as Normfest GMBH (Germany), Termomeccanica GI SRL (Italy), Ital Express SAS (France) highly evaluate their participation results.

The X th Jubilee Trade Fair of educational programs, goods and services for children “Childhood Planet” took place on February 16-20, 2011 in “Lenexpo” exhibition anc congress center. It celebrated 10^th anniversary with presents and surprises and once again confirmed the status of the largest kids-oriented event in the North-West region of Russia.

When giving a welcome speech at the opening ceremony, Sergey Alexeev, the director general of JSC “Lenexpo”, said that according to the last year’s data St. Petersburg had the highest birth rate in the country. He believes that “Childhood Planet’ has also contributed to the result because it promotes family values and healthy life style. The project helps to improve conditions, essential for the development and upbringing of younger generations. “All this is a real contribution to the development of Russia as wealthy and stable State”, - said Mr. Alexeev.

Lyudmila Kostkina, the Vice-governor of St. Petersburg , Elena Zotova, the head of UNICEF social projects department in Russia, and Antonina Tsisulina, the president of Russian Toy Association, personally attended the opening ceremony and greeted event’s participants. They emphasized that such project was important not only for St. Petersburg but for other Russian cities and regions as it could help to share successful experience of children’s development and upbringing. Ludmila Kostkina also said that children’s programs would remain the priority for the city’s government in 2011.

The new project, demonstrated at the trade fair for the first time, was the model of a “Child friendly city”, organized in the framework of the global UNICEF initiative “Child-friendly cities”, aimed to diminish negative urban impact on children and demonstrate all possible advantages of city life.

The model consisted of 9 thematic sections devoted to different themes such as: education, healthcare, sport, safety, family and friendship, art and culture, science and technologies. Children were offered various workshops and games which taught useful skills and knowledge, essential for all city citizens.

This year “Childhood Planet” exposition introduced over 150 companies, traditionally gathered in the following sections: “Mom and baby”, Toys and games”, “Kids apparel”, “My books”, “Children’s furniture”, “Sport” and “Pediatrics”.

Besides exhibiting companies “Pediatrics” section offered rich program for parents and the pregnant where they could get medical consultations from the specialists of the leading medical centers of St. Petersburg.

In 2011 the exposition offered many interesting and unusual exhibits such as a gigantic digital planetarium Full Dome.

“Igroved” company introduced interesting table games in the special game zone for children.

The new educational program for school children, which helps to determine child’s professional preference, was introduced by St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University.

“Innovations for children” company organized a real chemical laboratory and demonstrated experiments on chemistry and physics.

“Carousel” Hair Salon worked in the exhibition pavilion and offered discount prices for children haircuts and braids.

Interesting business program with seminars and workshops for specialists and parents was organized by St. Petersburg Committee for education and specialists of the Academy of Postgraduate Education.

“Russian Factoring Company” conducted the seminar “New financial possibilities for children-oriented enterprises”, devoted to the bank loans and other financing variants, State programs for small and middle business support.

II International Convention of “Smehariki” partners took place in the framework of “Childhood Planet” business program. It gathered manufacturing companies, trade chains, potential partners and media. The representatives of “Riki” company (Smeshariki project) reported about the results of 2010 season and announced their plans on the further project development.

Interesting entertaining program was offered to all exhibition visitors. Along with numerous children’s trampolines, small railway, slides and play zones it offered exciting performances, kid’s fashion show and beauty contest on stage.

27 young ladies aged 5-14 from St. Petersburg, Pushkin, Luga and Veliky Novgorod took part in “Miss childhood planet” beauty contest. They all received prices and presents, and the winner was awarded with the certificate for a “personally named star”. The winner will also represent Russia in France at the international beauty contest “Little miss world 2011” which will take place in summer.

The traditional day of Future Mothers gave all pregnant women free admission to the exposition and offered interesting program on stage with many contests, lottery and prices and useful medical consultations on skincare, allergy prevention and healthy nutrition.

On March 4-6, 2011 “Lenexpo” will host IV Specialized Exhibition “St. Petersburg Wedding Salon 2011” . Although St. Petersburg offers a variety of different wedding events, this exposition takes special place and always surprised visitors with exclusive and interesting solutions for weddings and other celebrations.

The list of “ St. Petersburg Wedding Salon” participants includes both wedding industry leaders and young developing companies: wedding salons, hotels and restaurants, photo and video agencies, wedding –planning companies, floristic enterprises. The International Exhibition for pet goods and services “Zoosphere” took place on November 17-20, 2010 at “Lenexpo” exhibition and congress center. It is the largest pet exhibition project in the country. In 2010 it confirmed its status for the XIX time and proved that Russian pet industry took the right development path.

For several days “Lenexpo” complex turned into a huge pet store offering all possible goods and services. Despite the last year crises the number of exhibition exponents grew by 30%; the event demonstrated excellent condition of pet industry in general: over 250 local and foreign companies from Brazil Germany, Lithuania, Canada, China, The Republic of Korea, Ukraine, Moscow and Moscow region, St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region, Volgograd, Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar, Novosibirsk, Perm, Samara, Tver, Chelyabinsk, Chita, Ulyanovsk and etc. introduced their production to the exhibition visitors.

Traditional “Zoosphere” sections covered all aspects of pet industry. The exposition demonstrated fodders, hygienic products, accessories, toys, garments, goods for small pets and birds, aquariums and terrariums, veterinary and other services.

Special pet restaurant “5 stars for 4 paws” became a pleasant surprise for the owners of small and middle-size dogs. Restaurant menu offered dishes from the leading fodders manufacturers. Here the customer and his pet could choose their favorite dish or try something new, carefully chosen according to the dog’s breed and age. All clients were met by the host-consultant, who selected the sit and assisted with the menu.

Traditional contest of Aquarium Design took place in the exhibition framework. This time it also included the First International Master –Class of Aquarium Design for children “LEARN TO CREATE”. – We want to convince everyone that aquarium is a very pleasant and easy hobby which gives you a lot of positive emotions, that’s why this year the contest is organized for children working under the control of mature designers, - said the sales director of JBL GmbH & Co.KG Rodolph Ruel. Master-class participants had to create a harmonic aquarium composition, containing live water plants, natural design accessories, fresh-water fish and other hydrobionts. The composition had to form natural atmosphere taking into consideration biological match requirements.

The contest winners were: Aquarium 3 “Green Alley” (Grigory Polischuk, Valeria Lexina, Valeria Spiridonova); Aquarium 5 “Beautiful Nature” (Andrey Krivchik, yulia Chubarova); Aquarium 7 “The path to the Mountain King Caves” (Dmitry Parshin, Vlada Dubova). All contest participants were awarded with special diplomas and received presents, e.g. fully stuffed aquarium.

In 2010 the exhibition enriched with a new project – the First All-Russian contest of Terrarium Design. The jury determined 3 winners: I - Melnikov Daniil received the Diploma and the prize from FERPLAST company: vertical terrarium and 20 000 rubles; II – Julia Ponomareva and III- Sofia Remizova also received Diplomas and vertical terrariums from FERPLAST.

The traditional Russian conference “Zoosphere 2010” once again became one of the main program events.

The conference participants were greeted by the honorable member of the Russian Veterinary Association and rector of St. Petersburg Veterinary Academy Larisa Karpenko.

She emphasized that the conference was organized in advance of the 250^th anniversary of the World Veterinary. Russian veterinary history began 200 years ago when St. Petersburg Veterinary Academy was established. Larisa Karpenko also said that two new faculties were recently opened in the Academy: the faculty of bio-ecology and faculty of aquaculture and bio-resources- the only place in Russia which educates ichthyopathologists.

The conference was organized by the North-West Veterinary Association and Russian Society of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (RSVO) and included thematic reports, discussions and a roundtable meeting focused on self-regulatory problems.

Besides, the participants of "Zoosphere” were offered a two-day tour to Helsinki on board of “Princess Mary” sea ferry. “Princess Mary” is a modern passenger ferry offering 606 cabins of various classes.

Within 19 years of successful work “Zoosphere” exhibition has deserved respect and recognition in the world of Pet industry. Its status is confirmed by “UFI” approved sign given by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry. In Europe “Zoosphere” is compared to one of the largest exhibitions – German Interzoo, conducted in Nurnberg.
Zoosphere” is also awarded with the sign of the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs.

In 2010 “Zoosphere” had over 12 000 visitors. In 2011 the Exhibition will celebrate its 20^th anniversary! The organizing committee does not want to reveal all secrets but it’s already known that one of the surprises will be a dating agency for dogs and cats!

IX Smelt Festival 14-15 May, 2011

Famous St. Petersburg Public Holiday follows old traditions and annually gathers city citizens. Every May St. Petersburg air fills with smell of fried smelt and confirms that the Spring has come to the City.

The annual Smelt Festival is the first public all-city event, organized for all citizens of St. Petersburg of different ages, social positions and interests.

The beginning of May is St. Petersburg season of smelt fishing, when the City is filled with the smell of fresh “cucumber” – the symbol of St. Petersburg spring. Small smelt has become one of the City symbols; the Smelt Festival is usually attended by around 50 thousand city citizens and guests.

The Festival will be attended by the representatives of St. Petersburg Administration and Legislative Assembly, artists, musicians, teachers and students, schoolchildren and sportsmen, pensioners. The event is planned as an all-city picnic.

VIII Forum of St. Petersburg Small Business

VIII St. Petersburg Small Business Forum will take place in the Pavilion 7 of “Lenexpo” exhibition and congress center on December 15-16, 2010.

The list of VIP guests will include A.V.Popov, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation, A.V. Sharov, the director of the department of small and middle business of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, S.R. Within 19 years of successful work “Zoosphere” has deserved respect in the world of zoo business and exhibition industry in general. It has confirmed its quality status by “UFI approved” sign, given by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry. In Europe “Zoosphere” is regarded as one of the largest zoo trade fairs, such as Interzoo – the largest German Trade Fair, conducted in Nurnberg. “Zoosphere” was also given the “quality sign” by the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs.

“Zoosphere” has brought to life many tendencies, which are successfully developing now in the Russian zoo business: the Association of Pet Enterprises and Veterinary Association, the first vet conferences and etc. Within years some exhibition sections of “Zoosphere” have become independent “Lenexpo” projects, such as “Hipposphere” , held in spring. A number of field magazines were first introduced at “Zoosphere” presentation.

Terrarium Design Contest will take place in Russia for the first time to help terrarium industry reach a new business level. The traditional contest of aquarium design will also be conducted within program’s framework.

A pleasant surprise will be offered to dog’s owners: a “5 stars for 4 paws” restaurant for small and middle dogs will be organized in the pavilion 8.

Business program will include a conference “Actual problems of small pets veterinary” (November 19, 2010 09.00-18.00, Pavilion 7, room 7-2) and Training Seminar on the latest method of service dogs training (November 18-19, 2010 11.00-17.00, pavilion 8).

“Pets Show” will take place in the pavilions 4 and 5 on November 20-21, 2010. The show has already become a well-known city family festival. “Pets show” participants are non-profit public pet lovers associations, charity funds working with animal rights, clubs, kennels and pet shelters.

A large educational program for children “Animal Planet” will be conducted within program’s framework.

“Pet show” demonstrates over 3000 dogs and 500 cats, over 200 rodents, more than 100 ferrets and many decorative birds.

Here you can choose a pet of any size, kind and breed, buy a garment for your dog, pet a rabbit or a guinea pig, enjoy beautiful decorative birds, consult with a cat specialist and etc.

On May 19-21, 2010 the III St. Petersburg Chemical Forum was conducted at “Lenexpo” exhibition and congress center. The event was organized by JSC “Lenexpo” and CSC “Farexpo” in assistance with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Russian Chemists Union, St. Petersburg Committee for Economic Development, Industrial Policy and Commerce and St. Petersburg Branch of Mendeleev Scientific Society.

St. Petersburg and North-West Region have a large scientific and technical potential. The Region has industrial chemical and petrochemical enterprises, leading Russian Chemical Centers of Applied Science; their developments on new technological processes, materials and waste recycling are known not only in Russia but worldwide. North-West Region is a strategic transport and logistic center, which also possesses wide consumption possibilities.

Despite the difficult situation in the Russian Chemical Industry caused by the global financial crisis and total economic industrial drop, which also touched chemical manufacture and consumption, “Lenexpo” and “Farmexpo” have managed to preserve “St. Petersburg Chemical Forum “ and keep it in their exhibitions lists for 2 years already.

St. Petersburg Chemical Forum is an important event for Chemical Industry and Science of the North-West Region. The future of Russian Chemical Industry totally depends on the development of regional industrial production and interbranch, interregional and international cooperation. That’s why St. Petersburg Chemical Forum is included in the list of congress events, supported by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade in 2010.

A scientific and technical conference “New materials and technologies for varnish and paint industry and coloring production” took place within Forum’s framework.

Organizers: JSC “Lenexpo”, Central Research Institute of Structural Materials (CRISM) “Prometheus”, and the editorial board of “Varnishes and Paints Industry” scientific and technical magazine.

Leading specialists of field institutes and enterprises (materials and equipment developers and suppliers) took part in the conference: CRISM “Prometheus”, “Chronos ” paints and vanish factory, CSC “Emlak”, CSC “Concern Morlflot”, “Notex” scientific production enterprise, “Bridges Research and Production Cetner” Ltd, CSC “Constanta” , “Fuelec” scientific and production company, “Ecor-Neva” scientific and production company and others. The list of the leading foreign companies included “Dow Corning GmbH (Germany), “Tikkurila-Coatings” (Finland) and “Jotun Paints” (Norway).

18 reports and several speeches by Russian and foreign specialists were presented within 3 conference days. The event was attended by more than 70 delegates.

The representatives of different industrial fields express their satisfaction with the fact that such serious scientific and technical issue, which is, besides, an important economic and ecological problem of paint and vanish industry development – the primary means of antirust protection for metal constructions and other technical objects, is well-understood and supported by “Lenexpo” management in the form of traditional annual exhibitions and conferences.

The reports were mostly focused on the problems of new vanishes, paints and coating materials’ development, new technologies for surface treatment and paint and vanish applications, equipment and control devices and regulatory documentation.

Forum contained the seminar “Modern means and technologies for crop protection”, organized under the auspices of the All-Russian Scientific and Research Institute of Crop Protection, and the seminar, organized by “Solex” company from Canada.

St. Petersburg Chemical Forum offered field specialists a good opportunity to receive a detailed review of the latest chemical and agro-chemical developments and innovations. The exponents appreciated the professional level of event visitors, and it resulted into numerous business contacts.

The International Scientific-technical Exhibition and Congress “Mechatronics and Robototechnics”, organized within Forum’s framework, is devoted to these two mutually connected technical directions – mechatronic technologies and robot engineering. It gives field specialists the opportunity to discuss scientific ideas regarding sensor and information –manager systems and mechanisms, and determine new paths of development. Nowadays, the situation with mechatronics and robototechnics demonstrates country’s scientific, industrial, social and military potential. In XXI Robototechnics is regarded the basis of technical progress. Robot engineering is a complicated complex task, which covers the interests of machine and equipment engineering both as consumers and manufacturers. Highly technological mechatronics is the merger of electro-mechanics and microelectronics, aimed to create new automation systems of multiple use, which were technically unrealizable before.

A full size copy of “Lunohod -1” and some other planetary rovers and spacecrafts, will be demonstrated at the joint exhibition stand of ‘VNIITransmash” North-European Space Consortium due to the 40^th anniversary of the first Russian luna rover landed on the Moon’s surface.

Two module space robots “Tsirkul (compasses)” and “Doros” and other land robots will be demonstrated by State Institute of Robototechnics and Cybernetics.

Pavilion 8 will offer exposition “Innovative approach to professional education”, organized in assistance with the Government of St. Petersburg and represented by different educational establishments of primary and secondary professional education. Visitors will be offered master-classes on different specialties.

The latest technical developments of Russian Universities and Scientific Enterprises, conducted under the patronage of the Committee of Science and University Education, will be also demonstrated at the joint stand.

Forum’s congress program contains around 20 events, such as a plenary session “Innovative breakthrough and business. Is there an innovative conveyer in St. Petersburg?”, conferences : “New innovative technologies for metal processing industry of the North-West Region and college and university programs for native machine engineering specialists”, “Russian electronics engineering: present and future”, “Technologies and commerce: how to make a commerce product”, “Scientific and technical problems in machine engineering: increase of quality and safety of assembly and installation processes in radio electronics” and etc..

XIX International agro industrial exhibition and fair “Agrorus” took place at “Lenexpo” coplex on August 23-29, 2010. Once again the event has confirmed its quality status and proved that Russian agricultural industry – one of the most important segments of country’s economy, is developing at the right pace.

Despite the economy crisis and difficult summer “Agrorus 2010” demonstrated satisfactory agricultural situation: over 1500 companies and farms from 13 counties and 45 Russian regions introduced their production. “Agrorus” traditionally covered all agricultural aspects: equipment, chemistry and bio technologies, livestock, fishing, farm goods, house building, food products and etc. Farmers organized large market territories at “Lenexpo” fairgrounds and offered their latest achievements. 745 tons of honey, 45 tons of vegetable oil, 700 tons of vegetables (25 tons of melons and gourds, 5 tons of garlic, 4.5 tons of foxberry, 3 tons of onions, 1,5 tons of mushrooms), 35 tons of fish were sold at the exhibition.

The largest exhibition exposition was offered by the Leningrad Region. This year it has gathered 160 enterprises from 14 regions. Along with agricultural productions visitors were demonstrated the achievements of genetic, breeding and other agricultural scientific centers. Animals’ exposition has become the novelty in 2010. Milk and meat cattle, goats, sheep and furry animals from 16 farm enterprises formed a small model of a livestock complex in the Leningrad Region. Fish market became the zest of exhibition. Here different farm and fish –breeding enterprises offered their production. Opposite to the regular stores with processed fish products it offered to buy or even catch a live trout, carp, sturgeon and African catfish.

Honey was traditionally the most popular product at the exhibition. Honey stalls could be found all along “Lenexpo” perimeter. Russian honey was represented at “Agrorus 2010” by beekeepers from the North-West, Volga, Cuban, North Caucasus and other regions. Tasty honey was sold by State and private bee farms and apiaries. The variety was impressive: May honey, buckwheat honey, meadow honey, white acacia honey, mountain herbs honey and others.

Exhibition program consisted of thematic days. The second day was the day of Leningrad Region, the third – the Day of Gardeners, the fourth – the Day of St. Petersburg. Other days were devoted to farmers, honey and folk crafts. Besides exposition and fair “Agrorus” offered around 40 specialized events within business program framework, which were attended by the delegates from 45 Russian regions and from abroad. Discussed questions were mostly focused on common agricultural problems, but some specific issues were also paid attention.

Problems of small scale agricultural business are always paid much attention at “Agrorus”. This year has not become an exception. A new agricultural parks program was introduced at the stand of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture. It is the initiative of Elena Skrynnic, the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, aimed to develop small rural business and implement the latest technologies to agricultural production and processing. Such agro parks are founded by agricultural manufacturers and include different processing units, logistic centers, wholesale and retail storehouses, transportation service, training and education, centers, equipment service stations, business centers with regional representatives of equipment, fertilizers and other suppliers. These agro centers received State support, including money loans and subsidies. Universities and scientific centers provide agro parks with new innovation technologies.

Innovations became one of the main themes at “Agrorus 2010”.“Agricultural labor productivity is twice lower than average”, - said the deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Mr. Alexaner Petrikov. We need innovations and industry modernization to bring our agriculture to the normal level of development. 80% of Russian agricultural vehicles are older than 9 years, besides a working load for an average Russian tractor is 226 hectares; therefore the same vehicle in the USA has only 38 and 14 hectares in France. Similar situation can be observed with agricultural combines. Russian ones have 347 hectares opposing to 63 in the USA and 53 in France.

Another problem is the growth of dependency of the Russian agriculture on foreign equipment and seeds supply. Such dependency in milking equipment is 95%, which is incomparably more than in other European countries.

But we should not forget positive tendencies which have occurred within recent time. According to Alexander Petrikov, the size of ploughed field, processed with resource-saving technologies, has doubled within last 4 years. Our agricultural sector was supplied with 70 thousand tractors, 35 thousand combines and 45 thousand lorries. Two thousand cattle-breeding complexes have been put into operation.

Vladimir Antonov, the executive director of Small Agricultural Business Support Fund “St. Petersburg for farmers, gardeners and woodland industry” is convinced that “One of the most important current tasks for the Russian agricultural industry is preservation of rural lands and stopping of vital territories reduction”. During the discussion, held at the plenary session of agro-industrial congress “Innovations- the basis of agro-industrial complex development” Vladimir Antonov pointed out that all changes should first of all be targeted at the improvement of rural living standards, as agriculture would not be able to function properly without authentic rural citizens, and even innovations would not be of any help.

Forum “Situation in St. Petersburg Food Market and urgent problems of Regional agro-industrial complex in the modern economic conditions” became the key event for the Day of St. Petersburg program. Forum participants came to the conclusion that in many cases the situation was tensed deliberately. It is too early to make final crops prognosis because some regions were damaged by fires and drought, but there are areas, now yielding unexpectedly rich harvest.

The 4th Session of Russian Gardeners was conducted within “Agrorus” framework and participated by around 400 gardener communities’ representatives from all Russian regions. And as Vasily Zakharyaschev, the chairman of the All-Russian Public Association “Russian Gardeners Union” said, they had a lot to discuss. Only 21% of all garden communities have proper access roads, 17% still do not have electricity. 75% of gardeners are veterans and pensioners who have to sponsor their local old power supply units and pay their scanty pension money. Gardeners’ Union has developed a special program “Country house –support for the family”, which will help to solve many problems. The project has already been approved by the “United Russia” council and the Chairman of the Russian Government Vladimir Putin. The program is expected to improve the situation with over 60 thousand of Russian gardeners.

North-West Interregional Wholesale fair of goods and services was organized for the first time. Sergey Zimin, the head of the Administration of the Plenipotentionary of the President of the Russian Federation in the North-West Federal District, told more about the new project. “We regard this Fair the place where “Agrorus” participants can conclude supply agreements for the next year with different wholesale and retail trade enterprises. Our task is to bring suppliers from different regions of Russia to our North-West market, enlarge the turnover between the Regions, offer new goods, which will be manufactured next year, and increase the number of trade companies, willing to establish direct cooperation with product suppliers. But first of all, we would like to give all agricultural and food manufacturers, demonstrating their products at the exhibition, the opportunity to widen their markets all other the North-West Region”.

The conference “Topical issues of veterinary and zootechnics” also took place within exhibition program. Livestock experts believe that foreign pork can be replaced if we strengthen our native livestock breeding industry. . According to the forecast from the North-West Scientific and Research Institute of economy and agricultural management, by the year 2012 pig’s population will reach 385 thousand and 80% will be grown at the large livestock enterprises.

But it is very important to save small farm enterprises. Specialists emphasize that the Government should work out a number of programs and take essential measures, aimed to support farms and small enterprises.

“Agricultural production is the main Russian export resource, and Russian may become the largest agricultural exporter”, - said experts during the discussion “Country’s food security system”. The list of speakers included Sergey Chechetkin, the Minister of Agriculture of Komi Republic, and Andrei Danilenko, the president of the National Association of Dairy Manufacturers. Mr. Danilenko drew the parallel to the similar situation at the food market which happened in Holland several years ago, when the Government had to control food prices inside the country for many years. But now this small country is one of the main agricultural suppliers in the world. Russia with its large territories and resources could also fit the role of the world agricultural leader.

The conference “Biological diversity: preservation, development, improvement and usage in agricultural industry” took place on August 25, 2010 and was organized by the Research Center of the Russian Agricultural Academy. The event was participated by over 100 people, 9 performed with personal reports. The conference ended up with the excursion to the exhibition and All-Russian Institute of plant breeding named after Vavilov, where conference participants could observe the collection and visit the low-temperature storage with genetic plant resources.

The Republic of Tatarstan was represented at “Agrorus” among other Russian regions. During the conference “European rabbit breeding technologies” Vasil Badreev, the manager of “Eurabbitech” company in Tatarstan, told about the industrial rabbit-breeding in Italy, France and Spain, which became possible due to the modern technologies for intensive rabbit breeding, which automate all farm processes. Special equipment is used for feeding, cages and air cleaning. A farm with two thousand rabbits requires only two working specialists. A new automated rabbit-breeding complex has been recently built near Kazan, Tatarstan. According to Mr. Badreev, the complex has proved its profitability even within a few first months. Rabbits breed well and grow very fast. Although, rabbit breeding complex costs several million rubles, its payback period is only 3-4 months. Required equipment can only be purchased abroad. But the plant, manufacturing essential equipment, will also be built in Tatarstan next year.

Any exhibition should not just be the territory for meetings, dialogues and experience share: it should help people sum up the results and become stimulus for the further development. Thus “Agrorus” program included the awarding ceremony for different contests: “ The Best Farm”. “Gardener 2010”, “Gold Medal” and etc.

Agro exhibition was accompanied by a job fair, visited by 2399 people. 101 people expressed the desire to start their own business, all of them could receive a professional consultation. “Miss Agrorus 2010” beauty contest discovered the most artistic, smart and wit young lady. It was Lyudmila Maximovskaya, the representative of St. Petersburg Company “Eco-floor”. She managed to overcome more than ten rivals from other Russian regions, Ukraine and Belorussia. The contest included 3 stages. The girls had to introduce themselves to jury and public, and then they were singing and composing songs. The third stage had a very unusual task “draw your dream”. The final stage included a cooking competition when participants were making pan cakes, later tasted by the male judges.

“Agrorus 2010” was visited by more than 120 thousand people. Next year the exhibition will celebrate its’ 20^th anniversary, and none doubts the celebration will be very interesting.

International Agro-industrial Exhibition and Fair “Agrorus” will take place in “Lenexpo” on August 23-29, 2010. This year it will be organized for the 19^th time. Much attention will be paid to the problems of food security. There will be a panel discussion “Forming of Country’s food security system”. The discussion will be focused on the Regions’ role in the country’s food security supply, measures, aimed to keep moderate food prices, State control of Country’s food market and other questions.

“Agrorus 2010” will offer many novelties, such as the First North-West Interregional Wholesale Fair of agricultural goods and business services, organized by the Administration of the Plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in the North-West Federal District.

Besides, Pavilion 8 will demonstrate domestic animals from poultry to large cattle, horses and furry animals. Guests will find fresh live and frozen fish (carp, sturgeon and cat-fish) at the fish market, traditionally organized at “Lenexpo” fairgrounds. Exhibition visitors will be able to fish right from “Lenexpo” pier and visit cooking workshops on fish cleaning, dressing and salting, organized for the first time. Another novelty is the Exposition of Kuban Wine-making enterprises.

Moreover, “Agrorus” will offer an interesting entertainment program with concerts, Katherine the Great knight tournament, “Paradise” fashion show, games, national songs and children stage performances. “Crafts Village” festival, folk art workshops and traditional beauty contest “Miss Agrorus 2010” will be also conducted within program’s framework.

Due to the last economic crisis Russian aviation has become “a very expensive elite transport”. According to the data from the Ministry of Transportation, only 2% of Russian citizens use air transport for internal travels. It has already caused a dangerous imbalance in the aviation industry between local internal and international transportation. Therefore EU and USA have the approximate correlation of 93% of internal to 7% of external flights.

Current situation in the Regional Aviation and local air lines can be honestly called oppressive. Within last two year Dmitry Medvedev, the President of Russia, has already determined the necessity of new approaches to the development of civil aviation. The revival of regional aviation and aeronautics (airship building) in St. Petersburg is the right strategic step. “InterAeroCom” will become the only place in Russia, where specific problems of aviation industry will be discussed between specialists and State authorities.

Salon will cover various issues: aviation legislation, air transportation in adjoining regions, special aviation, airship building, unmanned aircrafts, sport aviation, aircraft modeling, Polar aviation and others.

During 4 days of Salon’s work visitors will learn more about the latest aviation technologies, visit seminars and conferences, enjoy the entertaining program, competition of aircraft modelers and aero show.

Salon will demonstrate around 100 exhibits – airlines, engineering bureaus, avia and motor building enterprises, aviation clubs, Ministry representatives. Here you will find JSC “Russian Helicopters” and CSC “Tranzas Aviation”. Inside and outside exposition will introduce various air crafts, including modern and historic planes, such as a legendary plane of 1910 “Farman – 4” and “Newport”. Exhibition visitors will be also demonstrated helicopters (Augusta, Eurocopter, Mi-8) and hovercrafts. There will be 15 air balloons, 2 airships, 2 hydroplanes, an autogyro and a paraglide.

On August 12 and 15 guests will be offered a unique aero show, performed by “Rus’” flight group with Il 39 fighters , the best pilots of Russian sport aviation and “Nevsky” aero club. Mikhail Mamistov, an overall world aerobatics champion, will also take part in the show.

Auto Exotics Museum will introduce the exposition “Aero –style from Harley Earl to Yuri Gagarin”, devoted to the 50th anniversary of the first human spaceflight, within the framework of the international salon of civil aviation and aeronautics “InterAeroCom St. Petersburg 2010”. It will demonstrate Cadillacs, Fords, Chevrolets, Buicks and the car, which belonged to the First Man in Space, Yuri Gagarin: a unique concept of aero-style époque with a jetfighter nozzle for an exhaust.

International conference “Restoration and development of regional civil aviation – the strategic factor of Russian National Policy” will take place within Salon business program’s framework. Conference wills consists of discussions and sessions, such as “State Policy Russian regional aviation and the increase of transport availability level for the citizens of the Russian Federation” and “Development of transport availability in the Russian Regions”. The conference will be led by Sergey Gavrilov, the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Transport Committee. Conference Chairman is Nadim Iskhakov, Deputy Chairman of St. Petersburg Committee on Transport and Transit Policy.

Besides, different round tables will be devoted to various kinds of aircrafts and airships. They will focus on urgent problems in civil aviation, aviation legislation, regional and interregional programs of aviation transportation revival with the help of small aviation, new aircraft models and etc.

Aero-style from Harley Earl to Yuri Gagarin

Exposition “Aero –style from Harley Earl to Yuri Gagarin” will open on August 12, 2010 in the Museum of Auto Exotics, situated the Pavilion 3 of “Lenexpo” exhibition complex. The exposition is devoted to the 50th anniversary of the first human spaceflight.

The exposition will demonstrate a unique collection of aero-style cars from “The Fin Age” époque, provided by St. Petersburg club “Retro Union”.

Among the exhibits one may find a full collection of vertical, diagonal and horizontal car fins from the period of “Detroit Baroque”, and the car, which belonged to the First Man in Space, Yuri Gagarin: a unique concept of aero-style époque with a jetfighter nozzle for an exhaust.

The exhibition in “Auto Exotics Museum” is organized within the framework of the international salon of civil aviation and aeronautics “InterAeroCom. St. Petersburg 2010”, which will be conducted in “Lenexpo” exhibition complex on August 12-15, 2010.

Museum exposition will start the program, devoted to the 50^th anniversary of the first human spaceflight.

Press-conference will take place on August 12, 2010 at 15.00. The exhibition is open every day from 11.00 to 19.00 in the pavilion 3 of “Lenexpo” complex.

Forum "North-East development of fish culture - 2010"

Saint-Petersburg has old traditions of specialized fishing exhibitions. For the first time such exhibition was organized in 1968. On June 3-6, 2010 "Lenexpo" will host "Baltic Marine Festival", which will continue the traditions of "Baltic Boat Show. St. Petersburg." exhibition, conducted since 1998. The event changes the name and format, returns to its traditional dates and gathers all lovers of yachting and water sports. New format will offer exhibition and festival with water exposition, sport and entertaining water program, thematic yacht and musical parties.

In 2008 "Baltic Boat Show. St. Petersburg" seized to exist and Russian Sea Capital was left without any small-sized water -crafts' exhibition. Such closing had its reasons: luxury -industry was severely affected by financial crises and it caused a sharp drop in sales of yachts and caters. Nevertheless, the situation is getting better and potential participants and customers are interested in such events, conducted in St. Petersburg.

Baltic festival will gather around a hundred companies, e.g. "Hard Top Marine", "Boat Planet Petroset", "Mercury", "Admiralty Shipyards", "Kompan Marine", "Mobile Group", "Okhta Shipyard", "Astron", "Aquamarine" and etc. A large exposition will be introduced by the Dutch company "Holland Yachts". This country is famous for its experience in ship building; Peter I took his shipbuilding classes here in Saardam. Even June, 4 is pointed in the event program as the official day of Holland.

The festival will take place in the Pavilion 4, which has exists to Nalichnaya street and inner complex territories. Thus event visitors will be able to observe inside exposition and then go to "Lenexpo" water area. Along with exposition of yachts and caters, one may enjoy various sport and entertaining events: sailing regatta, motor-boat tournament for the prize of "Caters and yachts" magazine, rowing competitions and master-classes on sea-knot tying, navigation equipment and e-maps, fishing.

Besides, every participant will have the opportunity to make a 20-30 minute company presentation in the special presentation zone, organized in the Pavilion 4.

Baltic Music Fest -an open-air event on the shore of the Gulf of Finland will become one of the main Festival surprises. Since morning till night it will please exhibition visitors with rock, jazz, folk and funk music. The list of performers will include: "Razniye lyudi", "Segodnyanochyu", Markscheider Kunst, Spitfire, The Krolls and many others. A special event 'VIP Orange Yacht Party' will be organized for dealers and buyers of luxury water -crafts. A new project of “Lenexpo” – Baltic Music Fest will take place on June 3-6, 2010

What happens when two passions, sea and music, combine together? A new project of "Lenexpo" - Baltic Music Fest will take place on June 3-6, 2010 on the shore of the Gulf of Finland. Baltic Music fest is one of the events, included into the program of "Baltic Marine Festival", a remarkable event in the world of yachting. For 4 days bright music bands, famous favorites and not so well-known but also talented musicians will perform their music outdoors.

"Lenexpo" fairgrounds will simultaneously host a number of events: water-races, sailing regatta and yachts test drives. And, of course, there will be traditional festival treats.

Denis Rubin is the program director, and he turns this festival into the palette of modern music. For many years he has been forming the repertoire for different music clubs. Denis is a former director of "Leningrad" band and radio "Modern" producer, program director of "Platform", "Place" and "Sochi" clubs, at present he is an art-director for "Tantsy" (The dances) club.

June 3 will be devoted to the young jazz bands.

June 4 will focus on folk and rock-folk music. For example "Dobranoch" band, which gathers musicians from Moldova, Russia and Lebanon, inspired by Balkan, Jewish and Oriental melodies, composes new motives, where different cultures enrich each other.

"Simba Vibraton" will also introduce a new music solution. Their compositions let you enjoy sukus, afro-rumba, Reggie and even afro-beat. The final product is an unusual cocktail of different musical traditions, performed in five languages - Lingala, Kiswahili, French, English and Russian. The audience will also be pleased with "Skazi Lesa" (Forest tales) band with their bewitching 'forest chanson', accordion, bag-pipes, flutes, bass viol and shaman-drum.

On June 5 Music will play till 22.00. There will be some very famous musical teams, such as "Segodnya Nochyu" (Tonight). In 2002 the band rocketed to the top of many music hit-parades with their famous "Cigarettes and coffee". Some French fun will be organized by "The Krolls". Within 3 years they have managed to conquer many cities and give over 100 concerts in Russia and Europe and participated in many musical festivals, such as "Jazz cottage", Stereoleto, "Air".... "Spitfire" is the pioneers of Russian SKA style. In 2001 musician were invited to participate in the album, recoded by "Leningrad" band, called "The pirates of the XXI century". Since then "Spitfire" often performs as a part of "Leningrad".

Special festival guests is "Razniye Lyudi" (different people). Their concert will pay tribute to the musician of the Leningrad rock club. During its history the band has released 19 albums; group members are recognized masters of modern rock music: Alexander Chernetsky, Vadim Kurilev (a former member of DDT), Mikhail Nefedov (a former member of "Alisa"), Alexander Gordeev (a former "Korol i Shut), and Sergey "Chizh" Chigrakov. This music team has come through all stages of Russian rock and still pleases its fans: gives concerts and goes on music tours.

June 6 is the last Festival day and the program will finish at 16.00. This day music will remind everybody that the summer with its bright colors and smells has finally come. "Lenexpo" will be swept away with waves of joy and happiness: Latina and funk groups will give everyone real summer joy. E.g. "Prepinaki" band with their unique mix of dancing rhythms of from different époques and continents. The program will finish with the music project of Markscheider Kunst group, the team, called Tres Muchachos & Companeros. They will offer a spicy mix of Latina music. These guys know what the real joy is!

Russian yachtsmen will try to set up a new world record!

On June 4, 2010 the crew of "Peter I" yacht will make an unexampled attempt to set up a new record - conduct Arctic round-the world voyage in the Arctic Ocean without any ice-boat or winter camping. The expedition will start in St. Petersburg on June 4, 2010 at 16.00 from the territory of "Lenexpo" exhibition complex, which will host "Baltic Marine Festival" on June 3-6, 2010.

Till today, none of the world vessels has ever tried to conduct such voyage. Voyage uniqueness lies in the shortest and most dangerous round-the world sea route, which is planned to be passed within one navigation period and without any ice-boat's assistance. According to some information sources, a yacht from Norway is also planning to perform the same trip at the same time, but "Peter I" is counting to win this unofficial competition. In case of success Russia will strengthen its leading role in the Arctic developments.

A young Russian crew of 7 members, not older than 25 years, will go on a long and dangerous voyage for 5.5 months. Crew members are also responsible for all calculations, boat engineer planning and design.

Ship launching took place on May 19, 2010

Essential trip preparations began in 2009, when the yacht was taken out of water. The crew decided to perform a full reconstruction, do some modernization to improve sailing characteristics and renew almost all equipment. It took three months to dismantle everything under the deck till the very bottom. In December they started works with the boat hull, new deck cabin and inside design. Now the yacht is gaining its new planned outlook.

This voyage will take the Northern Sea Route, which is 12 500 miles long with 3500 miles in the severe ice conditions. It is the shortest and the most dangerous round-the world route on the Planet. The yacht will sail around Scandinavia and arrive in Murmansk on July 1, 2010. During the period of expedition it will visit Russian and foreign Arctic ports, such as Dickson, Pevek, Provideniya, Barrow (USA), Tuktoyaktuk, Cambridge Bay (Canada), Fort Ross (USA), Godthab (Greenland), Clyde, Reykjavik (Island).

On its way the crew will visit three outermost continental spots: Cape Dezhnev in the East (Chukotka) (169°39') Cape Chelyuskin in the North (Taymir) (77°43'), and the most Western in Kaliningrad region 19°38'on the Baltic Spit in the Bay of Gdansk.

There are some important places, where travel dates have been determined in accordance with special analyses, done to the ice areas. The yacht should pass Cape Chelyuskin by August 15, 2010 and Cape Dezhnev by September 1, 2010.

Approximately, the yacht should be back to St. Petersburg in the middle of November 2010.

The boat is equipped with a special navigation system, which will constantly transmit coordinates and post them on-line at www.rusarc.ru - a special web site, devoted to the round-the world trip. All visitors will be able to learn about the boat location, read the news, observe photo and video materials and even ask questions or leave a comment in the live journal. All hosting towns will provide the crew with internet and phone connection during the period of their stay.

All problems, regarding the trip organization, possible to occur, will be solved in assistance with the Russian Ministry of Defense, Foreign Affairs, and Federal Security Customs Services. At present Russian Ministry of transport, All -Russian Sailing Association, Norwegian company JOTUN AS and "Transas" group have already confirmed their participation in the project . "Transas" will provide equipment and e-maps, specially developed for the expedition.

Some hydro-meteorological researches will be performed during the voyage in assistance with the Arctic and Antarctic Institute.

The cruising yacht "Peter I" was built in 1992 in Magnitogorsk for a transatlantic race, devoted to the 500 anniversary of uncovering of America. After regatta the yacht was reequipped for long cruises and later participated in the international regattas for training sailing boats. In 2009 the yacht took the second place in its category at The Tall Ship Race 2009.

The history of "Welding" exhibition began in the city on the banks of the Neva River in 1969. XII St. Petersburg International Horse exhibition “Hipposphere"

On May 1-4, 2010 "Lenexpo" will host the XII St. Petersburg International Horse exhibition "Hipposphere". The event's name consists of two parts "hippo and sphere". "Hippo" means the horse, which is the main aspect of this exhibition. "Sphere" is the sphere of the horses world, which includes all aspects of human and horse cooperation. Horses and ponies of 20 different breeds will be demonstrated in the pavilions 7, 8 an 8a. For 4 days "Lenexpo" complex will turn into the territory for numerous tournaments, competitions and other sport events, which will not leave indifferent either adults or children.

There are only four pure horse breeds in the world nowadays, two of them, Arabian and Akhaltekin horses, can be seen at "Hipposphere.

This year exhibition will host around 300 companies from Armenia, Belorussia, Germany, Israel, Italy, China, Russia, Ukraine, France and Estonia, represented by publishers, polygraphists, book sellers, librarians, universities, e-book manufacturers, on-line shops, representatives of Regional authorities and others. Over 40 firms are participating for the first time. Due to the traditional support, provided by the Government of St. Petersburg, there will be a separate exposition, demonstrating our local publishing houses - around 130 companies.

As any exhibition has to grow, and since this year our Salon will introduce a new section, devoted to the polygraph industry. Thus the participants will be able to draw attention to books and the professionals of book and polygraph markets will be able to meet at one place.

The main themes for the Book Salon 2010: the 65th anniversary of the Second World War Victory, 150th anniversary of A.P Chekhov and 'teachers' year', are all reflected in the thematic sections and different events.

The official opening ceremony will be conducted on April 22 at 12. 00 and will be devoted to the 65th Victory anniversary, a piece of history, which is very important for every Russian. The event will be accordingly decorated and will have proper musical arrangement.

At 12. 30 the opening program will include the awarding ceremony for the contest "equal rights- equal opportunities", which was organized for the students of special (correction) schools of St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region in 3 nominations: "The best reader", "the best craftsman" and "the best author". Contest theme is "My Favorite Teacher". The contest is organized for the 7th time; previous events have already made many people change their attitude to the problems of disabled children.

One of the exhibition's key events will be announcement of the contest results and the awarding ceremony for the annual "The best book of the year" prize on April 22 at 13.00 in the conference-room 7.2. The contest with 12 nominations is organized by the Association of Russian Publishers jointly with some public and State establishments. It is participated by publishing houses, creative groups, unions, funds, scientific and educational institutions, libraries and public organizations. The winners are awarded with money, presents and certificates.

On April 22, 2010 at 13.00 the presentation of the book "THE GATE, NAMED AFTER ALFEROV. 80 stories from the Nobel laureate" will take place in the conference-room 7.3 and will be attended by the author and Zh. Alferov.

At the same time the presentation of a unique project "Olga. The Forbidden Diary": the presentation of the book, published by "Azbuka" and the play by "Baltic House" theatre, devoted to Olga Bergolts, will take place at the stage of Pavilion 7. Film Director Igor Konyaev, and a famous Russian actress Era Ziganshina will take part in the event.

2010 is the year of France in Russia, so that France will be an honorable guest at the exhibition. French program will be prepared by the French Institute and French Embassy in Russia. It will include many interesting events, such as a round table meeting "Politics and Religion" with invited French philosophers, theologists and Russian specialists, meeting "Modern French poetry" with two French poets :Ludovic Janvier и Jean-Claude Pinson, - and Mikhail Yasnov.

This Festival has been conducted in St. Petersburg since 1995, and it is one of the largest exhibitions in the North-West Region of Russia. “Russian Housing and Communal Services” Exhibition

VI Exhibition and conference "Russian Housing and Communal Services" will take place on December 10-12, 2009 in "Lenexpo" exhibition complex. The event's opening ceremony will be attended by A.I. Forum is targeted to make the conditions for the professional communication between the companies, working in the sphere of advertising, information, promotion, event-industry and decorative city lightning.

Forum goals are to present all segments of advertising market and completely cover the problem of environmental design and city decoration, currently important for St. Petersburg.

The forum territory will be divided into three parts: pavilion 8 A- exposition zone, pavilion 8- presentation zone, pavilion 6, room 6.1 - conference zone.

Forum will include two specialized exhibitions: "Advertising and Information" and "Trends: modern tendencies for the city, interior and holiday decoration." Around 100 companies from Moscow and St. Petersburg will participate in the exhibition.

The Committee for the Press and Mass Media Cooperation, City Advertising center, Holiday and Festival Center are participating in the event for the first time. It confirms the fact that St. Petersburg Government pays attention to this project.

"Trends" exhibition will demonstrate many lights decorations. The exposition will contain the novelties of the year - light installations. "Laser prolight" company will demonstrate the abilities of laser equipment. GS Illuminations will present its light decorations for the first time.

New ideas and solutions for the city and interior decoration will be presented by the constant exhibition participants "Adam decolight" and "Shishi" companies.

"Christmas Exam" - the shop-window decoration contest, will be run in the exposition zone. For 2 days the participants will be decorating shop windows according to the announced theme.

"Advertising and information" exhibition traditionally exposes visitors to the communicative agencies, souvenir manufacturers, publishing houses and printing offices.

A lot of attention will be paid to the new media sources, e.g. online advertising. The new tendencies of internet advertisement, web-sites making and promotion will be demonstrated at the exhibition stands and during the presentations and Forum business program.

"Business -lift" project will introduce the ideas for the new advertisement bearers, when information can be placed in the business -center's elevator.

A part of the pavilion will be marked out as the special business-zone, where the participants will make presentations of their projects and abilities for the potential customers.

The presentation zone (pavilion 8) will host a fashion defile "Trends 2010" by St. Petersburg clothes designers. Fashion designer Leonid Alexeev will also demonstrate his models. The event will be conducted at the podium, provided by "Art-festival" company. The presentations of holiday and corporate event makers will also be demonstrated daily in non-stop regime.

The business program, executed in the conference zone, will contain 3 sections: "Holiday, lights and advertising city decoration" (October 14), "New technologies and creative ideas" (October 15),"Event-trigger and provocative marketing. Social advertisement" (October 16).

The Committee for City Planning and Architecture will become an active participant of "Holiday, lights and advertising city decoration" section.

The round table discussion "Government orders, subsides and grants - practical support for business. Conditions and responsibility" and "St. Petersburg social advertisement" seminar will be conducted in assistance with the Committee for the Press and Mass Media Cooperation

Exhibition stands will teach you how to save electric power, tell about the efficient LED lamps for different spheres of the city life. A part of exposition is devoted to the problems of integral specialists training in the framework of the new educational system "School - lyceum - college - university - company" and teaching and manufacturing laboratories for the specialized colleges of St. Petersburg.

The enterprises of Innovation and Technology cluster of machine-building and metal-working will also present their technologies. The cluster was established in 2008. At present it unites 26 machine-building enterprise and organizations.

"Zheldorautomatizatsiya" stand will introduce new information complexes and projects for classrooms and education centers.

The IV Russian specialized exhibition of visualization means, systems and technologies "DISPLAY -2009" will be introduced in the context of the "Russian Industrialist" forum for the first time. The exposition will contain displays, screens, electronic indicator panels, projecting equipment, 3D visualization equipment and software, reflecting equipment components and materials, system projects and new solutions.

Business program will include seminars and round-table discussions on the following topics:
"Means of visualization and media technologies in the modern educational process", "Street indicator and creeping line boards, solutions for the light technology and advertising", and "Visualization means novelties". The public lections on the latest achievements in the sphere of display technologies will be performed on October 1, 2009 for the specialists and university students.
