Welding 2010
International Exhibition for Welding, Cutting and Allied Technologies

I am delighted to greet the organizers, participants and guests of "Welding 2010" exhibition in St. Petersburg. For 40 years this large event has been demonstrating technological development of the Russian Industry.
St. Petersburg possesses a great scientific and industrial potential. Its enterprises represent the main industrial spheres: shipbuilding, power-machine building, car building, transportation and power engineering. The city is now taking one of the leading positions in the country in terms of economy modernization and innovation production. The transferring of the city's industrial structure into the new innovative way of development is the task, set among the priorities for the government of St. Petersburg.
Welding is one of the most important technological processes. The quality of welded splices affects not only the construction outlook, but its technological characteristics, safety of exploitation and durability.
The improvement of produce quality in our machine-building industry is impossible without the implementation of new welding technologies, equipment and materials, generated on the basis of the latest achievements of our fundamental and applied science.
Successful welding development requires the promotion of technical achievements in this sphere. During the long years of its existence the exhibition has managed to take the leading position among the largest industrial forums, conducted in Russia, and has become the platform for productive work, which includes efficient cooperation, exchange of knowledge and experience among the specialists.
I am convinced that the 14th International Exhibition "Welding 2010" will give a new impulse for the development of the latest welding technologies, will help Russian industry reach a higher level of technological development and contribute to the modernization of the industrial sector of Russian Economy.
I wish successful and productive work and bright impressions from their visit to our beautiful city to all exhibition participants and guests.
Mikhail Oseevsky,
Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg
