Welding 2010
International Exhibition for Welding, Cutting and Allied Technologies

The exhibition was organized by JSC "Lenexpo" and supported by the Government of St. Petersburg, Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The event was conducted in assistance with the National Welding Committee, National Welding Control Agency, Association of Welders of St. Petersburg and North-West Region, MESSE ESSEN GmbH and Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (CMES).
The main information partner for "WELDING 2010" was "Welding World" magazine.
The history of "Welding" exhibition began in the city on the banks of the Neva River in 1969.
Today St. Petersburg remains the largest consumption market for welding equipment. Within its 40 year history "WELDING" has taken the leading position among other largest industrial forums of Russia, CIS and Baltic countries; it is now regarded as a very important event, targeted to develop Russian welding industry and make for the modernization of the industrial sector of the Russian economy and its rapid technical upgrade.
The main theme for "Welding 2010" was introduction of the latest welding technologies and innovations, automation and robotizing of technological processes. Another problem, determined for discussion, was professional education for welding specialists.
Participants: 168 companies form Belarus, Hungary, Germany, Italy, China, Russia, USA, Ukraine, Finland, Czech Republic, Switzerland and Sweden take part in the exhibition. There were leading Russian and world manufacturers of welding equipment, scientific and research companies, small enterprises and trade representations.
The exhibition had 119 Russian participants. Russia was represented by the companies from St. Petersburg, Moscow and Moscow Region, Yekaterinburg, Ryazan, Perm, Severodvinsk, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk and etc.
The exposition took 3057 sq m of total exhibition space.
Exposition demonstrated leading Russian welding equipment, materials and technologies manufacturers; there were Russian representatives of leading world equipment manufacturers: "Engineering and Technological service", NAKS Regional North-West Center of Certification, Uraltermosvar, ESAB Russia, "INTERSVARKA". Ryazan Equipment Factory, Losinoostrovsky Factory of Electronics, Kahov Factory of Welding Equipment, ABICOR Binzel welding equipment Russia, LINCOLN ELECTRIC Russia, DUKON Russia - the official dealer of LORCH, DALEX, FIMER, ELMA TECH, TRANSLAS, КOIKE; SHTORM - Russian and CIS representation of EWM group (Germany) and BLUEWELD (Italy), TSTS Vyborg - representative of KEMPPI OY; ARGUS Pipeline Service (Russia), CRON SPB -Russian representative of Air Liquide Welding, Oerlicon, FRO, SAF ; "WELDING WORLD"-representative if SОL and SOLWELDING (Italy) and POLYSOUDE (France).
The exposition contained "Essen Welding pavilion", organized by MESSE ESSEN GmbH. That International pavilion introduced 12 companies from Germany, Hungary, Italy and USA, including one of the global welding equipment leaders Carl Cloos Schweißtechnik GmbH, specializing in robotized technological welding and cutting complexes and highly productive processes and equipment, e.g. laser arc welding, and Кemper GmbH , one of the leading manufacturers of ventilation equipment for filters, Kjellberg Finsterwalde Plasma und Mashinen GMbH - a well-known leader in the sphere of scientific plasma technology, , MIPA- Italian association of welding materials manufacturers and others.
Chinese National exhibition stand contained 19 companies, including 10 companies from Tianjin Province. They introduced the latest welding equipment, technologies and materials
Participants The exhibition was visited by over 3000 specialists; there were officials and directors, senior welders and specialists from allied industries (machine building, shipbuilding and maintenance, power engineering, oil and gas industry, car manufacturing, construction and municipal services), commercial firms and trade representatives from all regions of Russia, CIS and foreign countries, mass media representatives.
International scientific and technical conference "Advanced technologies and development of welding science and practice"
The international conference "Advanced technologies and development of welding science and practice" , focused on the problems of welding innovations, was organized within the framework of "WELDING 2010" business program.
Conference organizers: National Welding Committee, National Agency of NDT and Welding, (NAKS), German Welders Association, Italian Welding Institute, "St. Petersburg and North-West Region Welders Alliance" and JSC "Lenexpo".
Plenary session topic: "Technological development priorities and innovative solutions for welding industry".
Aleshin N.P., a member of the Russian Academy of Science, Lopota V.A., the president of NAKS, a participant member of the Russian Academy of Science, "Energy" corporation, named after S.P. Korolev, Lobanov L.M., Academician NAN Ukraine, E.O. Paton Electric Welding Institute, Dr. K. Middeldorf, DVS- German Welding Society and others attended the session and gave speeches.
The conference contained 23 reports, devoted to the theoretical and practical welding problems and performed by the senior specialists of different Russian and foreign companies, research institutes and industrial enterprises.
Much interest was aroused by the reports, devoted to the diagnostic methods and evaluation of welded constructions' residual resource (Aleshin N.P.,NAKS); advanced welding technologies and allied processes and trends in Joining Technology - value added by welding technology (Dr. K. Middeldorf, the director of DVS( German welding society); different problems of welding certification in regards with current international standards (A.I. Chuprak, NAKS); self-regulation principles, applied for welding evaluation (A.I.Prilutskiy, NAKS).
A number of reports were focused on the latest welding technologies, applied for pipe-line construction including under water and wide pipe welding, welding innovation technologies and materials (electron-beam, laser welding and cutting, robotized welding systems), and innovation welding teaching technologies and programs.
According to the general opinion, expressed by conference participants, the event was organized at the appropriate scientific and technical level, enriched the attendants with valuable knowledge, which will help them increase technical level of Welding Industry in general. The International Scientific Committee, Organizing Committee and conference participants highly evaluated the event organization and quality of presented reports. They would like to have such conference organized again in the future. 120 people took part in the event.

II Young Welders Forum
The II forum of Young Welders was conducted on the second exhibition day in assistance with St. Petersburg Committee for Education. As 2 years ago the event was organized for young welding specialists from technical colleges and other professional educational institutions.
Forum was aimed to increase "profession's prestige" and strengthen the cooperation between senior and junior specialists.
Forum's program included different reports, devoted to unusual ways of welding application: flesh welding, underwater welding, and space welding.
A separate sector was devoted to the university education and work perspectives for welding-engineers.
Y.V. Demyantsevich (senior welder of "St. Petersburg Sea Port) and A.V. Klyarovsky (honored welder of Russia) - people, who devoted the most part of their lives to welding, shared their experience and told about the welder's career.
The awarding of the City contest "Welder" winners, organized among professional colleges, has become Forum's tradition. The contest was conducted in April 2010 in Electro machine-building professional college.

Forum's sponsors "Ducon", "Sizod", "SovPlim" and "Intersvarka" provided excellent prizes for the contest winners" welding equipment and masks, which will help students master their welding skills. JSC "Lenexpo" awarded them with diplomas. Diplomas were also given to the teachers and specialists, who prepared student for the contest. The director of Nevsky Polytechnic professional college, Mr. Y. Tsarfin, congratulated the young winners.
The program included musical breaks, prepared by the students of "Petrovsky College".
Young Welders Forum was participated by the 550 students from State St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, St. Petersburg University of Machine-Building, Electro machine-building professional college, Shipbuilding College # 25, "Krasnoderevets", professional technical colleges 80, 89, 107, Professional college of Industrial shipbuilding 3 116, Nevsky Polytechnic Professional college, Russian college of traditional culture of St. Petersburg, Petrovsky College.
Forum participants also attended "Welding" exhibition.
"Golden Welding 2010" award
"Golden Welding" sign was established in 2004 at "Welding 2004" exhibition. The award is aimed to make for the Russian economic development and contribute to the dynamic development of Russian welding industry. It also assists with organization of "Welding" exhibition in St. Petersburg. The awarding ceremony is organized by JSC "Lenexpo" and "Alliance of welders of St. Petersburg and North-West Region".
